Founded in 1993 by Adilah Barnes and Miriam Reed, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival holds the distinction of being the oldest Annual Solo Festival in Los Angeles celebrating powerful women performers. The 31st annual Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, directed by Jessica Lynn Johnson, has a roster of accomplished co-hosts as well as performers during its six programs March 28-31, beginning with a Gala on Thursday night. I decided to speak with Jessica to find out more about the event and the honor being bestowed upon her at the event’s Gala.

Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival will present its Tenth Annual Empowerment Weekend, of workshops and panels tailored to empower and enhance the careers of solo performers in particular, and an informative event to benefit all performers.

The Paul Robeson Award will be bestowed on Dale R. Shields for 2021, Pearl Cleage for 2022 and The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City for 2023.

Little Shop of Horrors, the stage and screen musical that has circled the globe for over 30 years, consuming audiences with chills, thrills and laughter, arrived Monday night at Feinstein's/54Below. Chromolume Theatre has announced a new production of Do Lord Remember Me, a play with music by James de Jongh, directed by Wilson Bell, opening April 19 for a limited engagement through May 19. Do Lord Remember Me was previously presented to great acclaim by Chromolume in 2006, and again in 2007.
