The Echo Theater Company introduces L.A. audiences to playwright Miki Johnson when Chris Fields directs the West Coast premiere of American Falls, opening tonight, Sept. 11 at the Echo's Atwater Village Theatre home.

Echo Theater Company will stage the world premiere of Tommy Smith's GHOST LIGHT, directed by Chris Fields and starring Deborah Puette. Performances run Aug. 5 - 27 at Atwater Village Theatre (Wednesdays at 8 p.m.: Aug. 5, 12, 26 - dark Aug. 19) -(Thursday at 8 p.m.: Aug. 27.)

More than 50 actors are set to participate in The Blank Theatre's 23rd Annual Young Playwrights Festival, including Deborah S. Craig (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Julie Gonzalo (Dallas), Echo Kellum (Sean Saves the World, Ben & Kate), Missi Pyle (Gone Girl), Sara Rue (Rules of Engagement, Impastor), Lindsey Shaw (Pretty Little Liars), and Virginia Williams (Fairly Legal). Twelve winning plays by young playwrights aged 12-19 from seven different states will be presented during this year's festival at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood, running from June 4-28.

A cast of 13 veterans of stage, film and television has been announced for the world premiere of FERGUSON by journalist and documentary filmmaker Phelim McAleer. Nick DeGruccio will direct four dramatized staged readings for Theatre Verite Collective as a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre, April 26-29.

1948's Summer and Smoke was rewritten in the 60s by Tennessee Williams and what resulted was a more clearly structured/themed play with the same central characters entitled The Eccentricities of a Nightingale. Music teacher Miss Alma, daughter of an Episcopalean minister, was passionately in love with her neighbor young Dr. John Buchanan and when that love was unrequited rather than become a miserable spinster, she turned to prostitution. Now in a rare and lovely production of the refined play @ A Noise Within, Williams poetic spirit is alive and well in Miss Alma, the Spanish word for soul.

In a year marking the 100th anniversary of Tennessee Williams' birth, A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, presents the celebrated playwright's THE ECCENTRICITIES OF A NIGHTINGALE, an ode to fragile beauty, directed by Damaso Rodriguez, opening Saturday, March 19 and running through Saturday, May 28, 2011 (previews begin Saturday, March 12).
