Last night was the world premiere of Anita Gillette and Penny Fuller's new show SIN TWISTERS, TOO! at Feinstein's 54 Below. It attracted a celebrity audience and BroadwayWorld was there TOO.
The brainchild of Metropolitan Room managing partner Bernie Furshpan, his General Manager Joseph Macchia, and Cabaret Scenes Magazine Publisher Peter Leavy, New York's first International Cabaret Festival (February 17-21) debuted Wednesday night at the Met Room with performances and inductions into the newly established Cabaret Hall of Fame (an actual location for Hall and its memorabilia to be determined at a later date). Clubs hosting this year's festival include The Metropolitan Room, Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, Feinstein's/54 Below, Iridium, Joe's Pub, and Stage 72 (formerly The Triad).
?The Media Theatre has "Dogfight: The Musical" March 9-27. With music and lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul and a book by Peter Duchan, it's based on the 1991 film of the same name. It's the winner of the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical.
Broadway's Supper Club presented Joanna Strand and Jacqui Tate last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Ann Hampton Callaway was a surprise guest and gave the British duo her Diva Blessing. Marilyn Maye always gets standing ovations but few more exciting than when Tommy Tune is in the audience to rise out of his seat for the marvelous Marilyn. Tune, the New York City designated Living Landmark, had recently finished getting his own standing ovations at Encores! production of "Lady, Be Good". He was among the other celebs at Birdland last night to witness another episode in the saga of the artistry of a Marilyn Maye and Billy Stritch performance.

There was a happening on West 44th Street! For a week, Chita Rivera brought her joyful, razzle-dazzling nightclub act to Birdland, which she calls her favorite room in the city. “These walls are filled with the best music! Playing Birdland just makes me feel cool,” she proclaimed. As if her iconic Broadway career wasn't cool enough, “Chita's Back” was a concert for the history books – with the ever-youthful legend in fine fettle; singing, dancing and telling some of the best insider stories any theater-lover could hope for. Material from Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, West Side Story and The Visitwere included, as well as a James Taylor duet with daughter, Lisa Mordente. The swinging was band led by guitarist/percussionist Michael Croiter, with Michael Patrick Walker on piano, Jim Donica on bass, and Dan Willis on saxophone.

The Costume Designers Guild has announced its nominees for their 12th annual awards show. The awards honor contemporary, period and fantasy costume design in films, TV and commercials. Lou Eyrich of GLEE received a nomination for 'Outstanding Contemporary Television Series', while Colleen Atwood of Rob Marshall's film musical NINE received a nomination nod for the category 'Excellence in Period Film'.
