GLORIA: A LIFE Extends Through March 31, 2019

The acclaimed world premiere of GLORIA: A Life, the new play about groundbreaking activist and icon Gloria Steinem, has now been extended through March 31, 2019. Presented by Tony Award-winning producer Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots, The Normal Heart, Indecent), the production opened October 18, 2018 at the Daryl Roth Theatre on Union Square (101 East 15th Street at Park Avenue South).

DeLanna Studi's powerful memoir play And So We Walked: An Artist's Journey Along the Trail of Tears begins preview performances on March 31, opens on April 6, and runs through May 13 in The Armory's Ellyn Bye Studio. Studi returns to The Armory to perform this solo show after a triumphant run as Marie Dorion, Sarah Astor and other roles in the two-year engagement of Astoria: Part One and Astoria: Part Two. Corey Madden, the executive director of the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, has been involved in the development of And So We Walked since initial research began in 2014 and comes to Portland to direct the production.

MANHATTA Opens at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 4/1

 The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will present the world premiere of Manahatta by Mary Kathryn Nagle, directed by Laurie Woolery, on April 1, 2018, in the Thomas Theatre. Preview performances are March 28, 30 and 31, and the play runs through Oct. 27.

THE THANKSGIVING PLAY By Larissa FastHorse Comes to Artists Rep, 4/1

Artists Repertory Theatre is proud to present the World Premiere of The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse (Sicangu Lakota) from April 1 through 29, on the Morrison Stage. The play is directed by Luan Schooler, Artists Rep's Director of New Play Development & Dramaturgy. The Thanksgiving Play is the second commission of the theatre's Table|Room|Stage new play development program to receive its World Premiere at Artists Rep.

Native Voices presents Annual Short Play Festival: SEVEN GENERATIONS

Continuing its role as the only Equity theatre company dedicated exclusively to developing new work by Native American artists, Native Voices at the Autry presents its seventh annual Short Play Festival: Seven Generations. Held during the Autry Museum of the American West's American Indian Arts Marketplace on Sunday, November 12, 2017, the event features new short plays by Native American playwrights that urge the audience to think about how their actions today will impact the lives of future generations.

AND SO WE WALKED Makes North Carolina Debut

Triad Stage, a professional, not-for-profit, regional theater in Greensboro, NC,  will stage the North Carolina debut of a new one-woman play that traces the path of a young Cherokee woman's great-great grandparents who were forced to relocate from their homelands in the 1830s along the Trail of Tears. Created and performed by DeLanna Studi (Cherokee Nation) and produced and directed by Corey Madden, AND SO WE WALKED: An Artist's Journey Along the Trail of Tears, previews from April 19-21, opens on April 22, and runs through April 30 at the Hanesbrands Theatre, 209 Spruce Street North in Winston-Salem, NC. The World Premiere of ASTORIA: PART ONE Opens at The Armory

Peter Stark's best-selling bookASTORIA: John Jacob Astor and Thomas Jefferson's Lost Pacific Empire; A Story of Wealth, Ambition, and Survival comes to life on stage at The Armory in a world premiere production directed and adapted by Chris Coleman. Astoria: Part One is the first world premiere to debut as part of the company's new Northwest Stories series. This monumental piece of American history will be told in two parts over the course of two seasons. Astoria: Part One opens on the U.S. Bank Main Stage on January 20, with preview performances beginning January 14, and regular performances running through February 12. Select dates will be presented as part of Fertile Ground, a city-wide festival of new works held every January in Portland. Astoria: Part Two will be presented during the 2017-2018 season.
