Theatre artists and productions nominated for The 27th Annual Helen Hayes Awards were announced this evening at a press conference hosted by The National Theatre in its Helen Hayes Gallery.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will remount the company's smash-hit production of Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park from July 21 - August 14, 2011. The entire original cast is scheduled to return for the production, again directed by Woolly Mammoth Artistic Director Howard Shalwitz.

TWO ROOMS is a love story set in two rooms--one, a cell in Beirut where a man is held prisoner, another, in the home of his wife who waits for his return home.

Everyman's production of Two Rooms by Lee Blessing is now in previews and opens officially on Friday, January 22nd. Directed by Artistic Director Vincent Lancisi, Two Rooms is in many ways a love story. It speaks to how much we are capable of enduring for those we care the most about.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is spending SEASON 30, it's 30th season of producing provocative new plays in the nation's capital, looking forward to the future of 30 more years, with a few glances back to celebrate some of the theatre's noteworthy achievements. Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will present the world premiere of ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira (Co-creator of In the Continuum) August 31 - September 27. Opening night is set for September 6. The production is directed by Liesl Tommy (The Good Negro, Public Theatre) and featuries Company Members Jessica Frances Dukes and Dawn Ursula.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, on the verge of turning the big 3-0, is excited to announce the lineup of plays for the 30th Season (2009-10). Featured are a World Premiere by Danai Gurira (In the Continuum), exciting new works from Mike Daisey (If You See Something Say Something), Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), and Bruce Norris (The Unmentionables), and a large-scale work by Charles L. Mee (Big Love). In addition, Woolly Mammoth?s favorite out-of-town troupe, The Neo-Futurists, returns to DC for an unprecedented fourth engagement of their hit show, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind in December.

The Kennedy Center presents the world premiere of Unleashed! The Secret Lives of White House Pets written by Allyson Currin and directed by Nick Olcott. Co-produced and co-commissioned with the White House Historical Association, the play appears in the Family Theater January 30 - February 22, 2009 and is recommended for audiences aged seven and up.

This is not the first time I've seen productions I've enjoyed better at the Everyman Theatre than on Broadway. Sure, Doubt on Broadway won the Tony Award for Best Play, Cherry Jones received the Tony for Best Actress in a Play, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, but I found the play lacking and unenjoyable.
