City College Center for the Arts Presents MADIBA: A DANCE WORKSHOP, Today

The City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) continues its 2016 - 2017 season with Jeremy McQueen and the Black Iris Project's "MADIBA: A Dance Workshop," a celebration of the inspiring life of Nelson Mandela. The workshop is open to dancers of all levels and nondancers alike and takes place at Aaron Davis Hall from 12  to 2 p.m. on Today, October 6. The program is supported in part by the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), a City University of New York-wide residency program now in its third year.

ROUGHLY SPEAKING to Premiere at TADA This Fall

Following a very well-received staged reading at the Manhattan Theatre Club on June 20, The Platform Group is pleased to announce that Shara Ashley Zeiger's gritty work Roughly Speaking, based on over 200 interviews with New York City's homeless at Xavier Mission Welcome Table Soup Kitchen, will be presented at Tada Theater, located at 15 West 28 Street, from October 29 - November 20, 2016.

Kansas City Ballet to Discuss NEW MOVES Showcase, 4/1

KANSAS CITY, MO (March 24, 2016) — Artistic Director Devon Carney announced the choreographers chosen for New Moves, a unique performance series designed to search out, develop and showcase emerging choreographers, both from the national dance scene as well as within Kansas City Ballet. New Moves is intended to provide time and space for choreographers to create world premiere works with accomplished professional dancers. New Moves will feature choreographers Jennifer Archibald, Andrew Skeels, Stephanie Martinez, and Kansas City Ballet company dancers Sarah Chun, Charles Martin and Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye.

Back by popular demand, ON KENTUCKY AVENUE: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Historic Club Harlem returns to City College's performing arts center Aaron Davis Hall tonight, February 19, for a three-day encore engagement. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis. An audience favorite, last February, the production was created by Jeree Wade and directed and written by Adam Wade with Ty Stephens. Scroll down for a sneak peek at the show!

Back by popular demand, On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Historic Club Harlem returns to City College's performing arts center Aaron Davis Hall on Friday, February 19, for a three-day encore engagement. The show, which shines a red-hot spotlight on a little-known piece of Black history and a famed club that came out of the segregation era, is presented by the City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and Byron and Sylvia Lewis. An audience favorite, last February, the production was created by Jeree Wade and directed and written by Adam Wade with Ty Stephens.

Elisa Monte Dance Sets 35th Anniversary Season

Elisa Monte Dance, an emotionally charged and highly acclaimed dance company that champions individuality, announces its 35th anniversary season and gala, March 2-5, at City College Center for the Arts' Aaron Davis Hall. The season pays tribute to the company's eponymous director who will present the world premiere of Pangaea. The season will also foreshadow the future artistic vision of the company with two world premieres by Tiffany Rea-Fisher, who will take over as artistic director at the close of the 2015-16 celebratory season. Rea-Fisher will premiere Newton's Cradle and Current and also return to the stage for a special solo performance of Monte's signature work Run to the Rock. Rea-Fisher, who retired from performing with the company in 2010, is among another 20 alumni who return for a tribute alumni finale of Shattered, a high-speed work first performed at the Joyce Theater in 2000.

Broken Box Mime Theater Adds Extra ABOVE BELOW Performance

City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC to Present FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH

City College Center for the Arts and Clark Center NYC join together in celebration of The Clark Center for the Performing Arts with a presentation of the acclaimed dance/narrative series From the Horse's Mouth on Thursday, October 1 and Friday October 2 at Aaron Davis Hall. The From the Horse's Mouth production will serve as the culmination of Clark Center NYC's weeklong residency at City College Center for the Arts, made possible, in part, by funding from the CUNY Dance Initiative. Performances of From the Horse's Mouth begin at 7pm. A reception will follow the October 1 performance.

A HAPPY END by Israeli playwright Iddo Netanyahu is the story of a well-to-do, well-integrated Jewish couple in 1932 Berlin deciding whether to remain in Germany or to flee to America.  The production dramatizes a dilemma -- whether to leave home, family and friends for an uncertain future in a foreign land, or stay, hoping the situation will improve -- that has been shared and faced by thousands of emigres.

'A Happy End' by Israeli playwright Iddo Netanyahu is the story of a well-to-do, well-integrated Jewish couple in 1932 Berlin deciding whether to remain in Germany or to flee to America. The production dramatizes a dilemma - whether to leave home, family and friends for an uncertain future in a foreign land, or stay, hoping the situation will improve - that has been shared and faced by most political emigres. The piece will be presented as an Equity Showcase September 10 to 19 at Aaron Davis Hall, 135th Street and Convent Avenue, by The City College Center for the Arts in partnership with the Division of Humanities and Arts. Jennifer Miranda Holmes directs.

City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), NYC's newest center providing educational and artistic initiatives for students and the community, presents students of London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer. Modernized from its premiere performance in 1773, CCCA, as part of its Arts Summer Theatre Program will present a cast of eight student actors for eight performances, July 23- August 1, 2015 at Aaron Davis Hall.

Aimed at guiding patrons through themes of discovery, understanding and cultural celebration, City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), presents a concert that brings together traditional and contemporary music. For one night only, tonight, May 15, 2015, the evening will celebrate the indelible footprints left by Harlem based Cuban legends of the past. Curated by Nelson Radhames Rodriguez and headlined by acclaimed saxophonist and composer Yosvany Terry, the evening honor legends of the past such as Luciano 'Chano' Pozo, Machito, Mario Bauza, Chico O'Farrill, Mongo Santamaria, Carlos 'Patato' Valdes, Arsenio Rodriguez and Graciela Perez. Terry is also joined on stage by vocalist Gema Corredera and composer Xiomara Laugart.
