Co-curators: choreographer Stefanie Nelson of Stefanie Nelson Dancegroup and bestselling author David Shenk (The Forgetting) present the launch of a new festival devoted to memory and forgetting. The inaugural event will feature Stefanie Nelson's A, MY NAME IS…, a dance piece inspired by a family experience with dementia, using several short films from David Shenk's Living With Alzheimer's Film Project. It will take place on January 23, 2019, at Aaron Davis Hall at The City College of New York (129 Convent Avenue at West 135th Street), with performances at 11:00 am and 6:30 pm. Both shows will be followed by a discussion with invited panelists including Meredith Wong from CaringKind's Connect2Culture program, and a reception (evening show only). The hypnotic fusion of American jazz and Arabic tarab music arrives in Harlem as the Tarek Yamani Trio presents “Jazz Conceptions in Classical Arabic” on Friday, November 16, at Aaron Davis Hall. Presented by City College Center for the Arts (CCCA), the 7:30 p.m. concert will offer music lovers a wonderful mix of re-arranged late 19th century songs from the Arabic repertoire, jazz standards and original compositions based on Levantine rhythms by trio leader Tarek Yamani.

N'Kenge just returned from her sold out symphonic tour with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, and Chautauqua Symphony and is thrilled to return to her home town to perform in this special three-week return of ON KENTUCKY AVENUE: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Famed Club Harlem at Aaron Davis Hall in New York beginning on Thursday, July 12. Described as 'a party you don't want to miss' by Broadway star Maurice Hines,' On Kentucky Avenue' transports audiences through time to the heyday of Club Harlem and offers them a fictional musical inspired by a real place: Kentucky Avenue, the center of African-American life in Atlantic City. Opened in 1935, Club Harlem quickly became the number-one destination for black performers in Atlantic City.

Historic Club Harlem will roar back to life as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents a special three-week return engagement of On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Famed Club Harlem at Aaron Davis Hall in New York beginning on Thursday, July 12. The show, which thrilled audiences when it premiered at Aaron Davis Hall in 2016, offers viewers a glimpse inside the celebrated nightclub that was the center of nightlife in Atlantic City's segregated Northside beginning in the 1930s. On Kentucky Avenue: A Celebration of Atlantic City's Famed Club Harlem was created by Jeree Wade, written by Adam Wade and Ty Stephens, and directed by Lee Summers.

The Samuel Torres Super Band will bring the dynamic and infectious sound of Latin jazz to Aaron Davis Hall today, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. with the 'Alegria, Urban Latin Jazz Portrait' concert. Presented by City College Center for the Arts, the performance is the world premiere of new, original compositions by Samuel Torres from his forthcoming album, Alegria.  

Mordance, in its mission to create modern, relevant movement that maintains the integrity of classical ballet, celebrates their fifth anniversary season this April at Aaron Davis Hall, April 27-28. Premiering two new works on an ensemble of nine, the season will honor the centennial celebration of the great Leonard Bernstein with a new work to a chilling score along side Arvo Pärt's Stabat Mater, inspired by a 13th-century hymn about the crucifixion of Christ. The company will also resurrect a work from their inaugural 2013 season.

The Orchestra Now (TON) offers a FREE concert at City College Center for the Arts at Aaron Davis Hall. A joyful lesson in Black musical history will take place at Aaron Davis Hall on Saturday, April 7, as acclaimed performers Marvin Lowe and Queen Esther Marrow lead a cast of singers in exploration of the diversity and brilliance of Black American music through the decades at "A Soulful Music Celebration." Presented by City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) in partnership with Marvin Lowe & Friends, the 3 p.m. concert will feature an ensemble of artists and singers taking audiences on a fantastic journey of music, culture and heritage.

The passion and elegance of tango will take center stage at Aaron Davis Hall as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents Polly Ferman's GlamourTango - A Celebration of Women in Tango on Thursday, March 29. Created and produced by Ferman, GlamourTango features an all-female cast of dancers, musicians and singers who come together to entertain audiences and bring to light the overlooked role of women in helping to shape this beloved musical and dance genre. The group will give two special Women's History Month performances at noon and 7 p.m.

Rea-Fisher has also curated a mixed-bill program on March 17 that will showcase a collection of new and restaged works featuring celebrated icons Tony Danza, Clifton Brown, Ayodele Casel, and more.

Copies of Seeing into Tomorrow: Haiku by Richard Wright (Millbrook Press/Lerner Publishing Group, 2018) will also be available for purchase.

The work and life of legendary artist and activist Harry Belafonte will be celebrated during a concert at Aaron Davis Hall on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. "Turn the World Around: The Music and Legacy of Harry Belafonte" will present audiences with a special evening of songs and stories in honor of and on the icon's 91st birthday.
