The world's largest student ballet scholarship competition - YOUTH AMERICA GRAND PRIX (YAGP) is celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season, with its NYC Finals held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The week of ballet festivities will include YAGP's Final Round (April 17th), YAGP's critically acclaimed Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow Gala performance and dinner (April 18th), with a repeat Gala performance on April 19th. Lastly, on April 20th, YAGP will present an International Dance School Festival, where dancers from all over the globe will perform works representing each school's style and artistic tradition, ranging from beloved classics to cutting-edge contemporary dance.
The 2018-2019 Season will conclude with works by three of America's most recognized and acclaimed choreographers brought together on stage for the THARP PARSONS FORSYTHE program May 10-19 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. With more than 160 choreographed dances to her name, Twyla Tharp is a legendary master of her craft and her In the Upper Room is a tour-de-force of athleticism, built on a pulsating score by Philip Glass.
Park City Institute presents award-winning contemporary dance company, PARSONS DANCE, this Saturday, March 30th, at 7:30 pm. The show is the final performance in PCI's 2018-19 Main Stage Season at the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, in Park City.
New York City's Parsons Dance, one of today's most prominent American dance companies, will return to White Bird after a long absence to perform a six-part program, featuring signature works alongside an exciting tribute to New Orleans jazz. Led by Artistic Director David Parsons, the 8-member company's unstoppable energy and spellbinding technique will provide for a spectacular night of contemporary dance. Founded in 1985 by former celebrated Paul Taylor dancer David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, Parsons Dance is internationally renowned for its athletic and energized ensemble work. The Clive Barnes Foundation, under the leadership of former Royal Ballet soloist Valerie Taylor-Barnes, awarded its prizes today for the 9th Annual Clive Barnes Awards, recognizing excellence in Theater and Dance, to Edmund Donovan (Theater, Lewiston/Clarkston) and Zoey Anderson (Dance, Parsons Dance). The awards were presented by Michael Novak, artistic director of Paul Taylor Dance Company and Tony-winner Beth Leavel, currently starring in Broadway's The Prom. The event, hosted by New York Post columnist and WOR radio personality Michael Riedel was held at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, announces the recipients of the ninth annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition: Tommie-Waheed Evans, Marissa Osato, Xiang Xu and Edgar Zendejas. This announcement follows a national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications, which began in June. The choreographers' world premiere works will be showcased on the members of the Joffrey Studio Company and the Joffrey Academy Trainee Program.

Following four sold-out performances of Joshua L. Peugh's Aladdin, Habibi in the Elevator Project at AT&T Performing Arts Center in October, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance (which is being featured as WaterTower Theatre's Guest Company in Residence) moves to Addison Theatre Centre-the company's new home theatre for 2019-for a Winter Series featuring three world premieres centering on gay identity in America. The new works will explore gay narratives, themes, and ideas and will be performed by a mostly queer company of dancers. Dark Circles has commissioned budding gay choreographers Mark Caserta, Eoghan Dillon, and Mikey Morado for the program. A new creation by Peugh-in collaboration with queer multimedia artist Brian Kenny-closes the evening. Performances will run January 24 - 27, 2019 at Addison Theatre Centre.

Michael Trusnovec, 20-year veteran with the Paul Taylor Dance Company (PTDC) will retire from dancing with the Company in June 2019. His final performances will be during Orchestra of St. Luke's Bach Festival. Mr. Trusnovec will continue to serve as Associate Rehearsal Director through June.
