Sundance Institute today announced the acting company for its 2008 Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, to be held July 7 to July 27 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Signature Concludes Kander & Ebb Celebration

Signature Theatre, under the artistic direction of Eric Schaeffer, yesterday completed the Kander & Ebb Celebration, a ground-breaking four-month festival devoted to the works of John Kander and Fred Ebb, the longest lasting song-writing partnership in the history of the American musical theater.

'The Visit' Opens Tonight, 5/13 At The Signature

Performances begin tonight for the East Coast premiere of THE VISIT at Signature Theatre (Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director). THE VISIT is the final mainstage show in the theatre's Kander & Ebb Celebration, a four-month festival devoted to the works of John Kander & Fred Ebb, the longest song-writing partnership in the history of the American musical theater.

Rivera, Hearn and Jacoby Star in Signature's 'The Visit'

The Visit, which will star two-time Tony Award® winners Chita Rivera and George Hearn with Mark Jacoby, features music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Terrence McNally, based on the play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, adapted by Maurice Valency. The production will be choreographed by Ann Reinking and directed by Frank Galati. The Visit will play from May 13 through June 22 in The MAX Theatre.

Kander & Ebb's 'Happy Time' Opens 4/1 at Signature

The Signature Theatre continues its national Kander and Ebb Celebration with a new production of the Broadway greats' forgotten musical The Happy Time, performed in Signature's 110-seat ARK Theatre. The Happy Time is part of a four-month celebration of the works of John Kander and Fred Ebb, the longest song-writing partnership in the history of the American musical theater. The Happy Time plays Tuesday, April 1 through Sunday, June 1, in repertory with Kiss of the Spider Woman in The MAX Theatre (through April 20), then The Visit (May 13 - June 22).

Signature Theatre (Eric Schaeffer, Artistic Director) is pleased to present the Kander & Ebb Celebration, the highlight of the Theatre's spring 2008 season, opening on March 11 and running through June 22. The festival is a four-month celebration of the works of the great Broadway songwriting team of John Kander & Fred Ebb. Kander and Ebb were the longest-running songwriting partnership in Broadway musical history, working together from 1965 until Ebb's death in 2004.

Signature's 'The Visit' Receives Star-Studded NYC Reading Feb.19

Signature Theatre will present a closed reading of The Visit on Tuesday, February 19 in New York City. The East Coast premiere of The Visit will be one of three mainstage works presented as a part of Signature's four-month celebration of the songwriting team of John Kander & Fred Ebb.

Mark Jacoby will join two-time Tony Award winning stars Chita Rivera and George Hearn in the Signature Theatre (Arlington, VA) production of The Visit. Signature's four-month celebration of the works of John Kander and Fred Ebb will also include The Happy Time, to star George Dvorsky, David Margulies and Michael Minarik.

'O'Neill Festival at 10' Hosts Free Readings, Screenings Jan.4-13

The Playwrights Theater, sponsored by Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library's O'Neill at Yale project, will present The O'Neill Festival at 10, ten days of free readings, screenings and discussions as well as a musical revue to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the O'Neill. From January 4 - 13 this O'Neill celebration will take place at New York University's Provincetown Playhouse

Kritzer and Miranda Win Clarence Derwent Awards

Variety.com reports that actress Leslie Kritzer (Legally Blonde) and composer-writer-actor Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) are the two winners of Actors' Equity's Clarence Derwent Award, given out annually to the season's most promising male and female performers.
