World renowned superstar Katy Perry has requested donations be made to the David Lynch Foundation, a US-based charity that provides meditation instruction at no charge to inner-city school kids and veterans suffering from the traumatic stress of combat. Perry made the request to her more than 28,000,000 twitter followers that they support David Lynch Foundation in honor of her upcoming birthday on October 25.

Mary-Arrchie launches right into its 27th season with Sam Shepard's surreal Geography of a Horse Dreamer this month, followed by a Mary-Arrchie re-imagining of The Glass Menagerie in November. Then we kick off 2013 with Austin Pendleton's riveting Uncle Bob in February 2013 and finish up with a relentless experimental staging of The Brig by Kenneth H. Brown in April and the Silver Anniversary of Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theatre Festival in August 2013.

Composer, writer and performance artist Kate Douglas makes her debut at Joe's Pub on Friday, August 31st at 7:30 p.m. with an evening of original songs, poems and curiosities entitled Kate Douglas and the Imaginary Menagerie. Douglas, who can currently be seen in PUNCHDRUNK's Sleep No More, will perform her own original music and lyrics, supported by a sexy collection of singers, musicians and a deer named Lucy.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today its 2012 NYFF HBO Films® Directors Dialogues participants would be Abbas Kiarostami, David Chase and Robert Zemeckis and the popular On Cinema conversation will feature two directors - Noah Baumbach and Brian De Palma. FSLC also announced additional titles as part of its Masterworks program, including the Director's Cut of Frank Oz's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, restored versions of Michael Cimino's HEAVEN'S GATE, Laurence Olivier's RICHARD III and Peter Whitehead's THE ROLLING STONES - CHARLING IS MY DARLING - IRELAND 1965, as well as two special sidebar presentations as part of the festival's 50th Anniversary celebration.

Mary-Arrchie is not taking a vacation this summer. The group finishes its 26th Season with a new partnership with Illinois State University when it presents an energetic staging of Electra in a new adaptation by Sonja Moser in July. And Mary-Arrchie will be performing a special two-week extension of Jeff Nominated Superior Donuts at Metropolis Arts Center in Arlington Heights. Plus, the Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins Theatre Festival celebrates it's 24th year this August.
