Julie Taymor to Receive 2015 William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has chosen Julie Taymor as the 2015 recipient of the William Shakespeare Award for Classical Theatre (Will Award), which recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to classical theatre in America. JM Zell Partners, Ltd. will receive the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts. The awards will be presented at the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala on Sunday, November 1, 2015, hosted by STC at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) and the National Building Museum (440 G Street NW).

SU Drama to Open Season in October with KISS ME, KATE

Staged by the Department of Drama (SU Drama) in Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts (SU: VPA), Kiss Me, Kate performs October 2-10 in the Archbold Theater at the Syracuse Stage/Drama Theater Complex, 820 East Genesee Street. Tickets range $17-$19 and can be purchased at vpa.syr.edu/drama, by phone at 315-443-3275, or in person at the box office, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Tickets on Sale for SU Drama's 2015-16 Season, Kicking Off with KISS ME, KATE

SU Drama's 2015/16 season features six productions, including three musicals, starting in October with the Cole Porter classic Kiss Me, Kate. Second in the season is Agamemnon, the haunting Greek classic, followed by a co-production with Syracuse Stage, Peter Pan. After winter break, the season continues with Punk Rock and the country-flavored musical The Spitfire Grill. Closing the season in May is the comedy A Flea in Her Ear.

Allenberry Playhouse Presents SHOUT! THE MOD MUSICAL, Now thru 6/14

The 60s swing with vintage British pop music faves in Shout! The Mod Musical at Allenberry Playhouse from tonight, May 13 through June 14. Allenberry's production is directed by Artistic Director Ryan Gibbs, with choreography by Dann Dunn (Allenberry's The Marvelous Wonderettes) and music direction by Harrison Beck (Broadway: The Visit).

Directed by Regina Belt-Daniels, the charmingly engaging production opens tonight, May 2 at 8:00 pm, and runs for select dates and times through May 11 at Raue Center For The Arts in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
