Allenberry Playhouse Presents SHOUT! THE MOD MUSICAL, Now thru 6/14

By:

The 60s swing with vintage British pop music faves in Shout! The Mod Musical at Allenberry Playhouse from tonight, May 13 through June 14. Allenberry's production is directed by Artistic Director Ryan Gibbs, with choreography by Dann Dunn (Allenberry's The Marvelous Wonderettes) and music direction by Harrison Beck (Broadway: The Visit).

Co-created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, Shout! flips through the years like a musical magazine, tracking five young women as they come of age during the liberating days of the 1960s that made England swing. It's a non-stop journey through the infectious and soulful pop anthems and ballads" associated with Petula Clark ("Downtown"), Dusty Springfield ("Son of a Preacher Man") and Lulu ("To Sir With Love"), among others.

Shout! features a cast of five powerhouse singers - all women! Allenberry Playhouse is delighted to welcome back leading ladies from last season - Beth DeMichele (Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street), Allison Mickelson (Mame), Katie Sexton (Laurey inOklahoma!), Elizabeth Angelozzi (Associate Artistic Director and APTC Director), and in her Allenberry debut Melanie Kann (Off Broadway Power Ballads).

"We have put together a really special gift for our amazing audience with Shout! The Mod Musical- and wrapped it up with a big, bright bow that will take you back to the 60s and leave you singing along with so many hits - you'll run out of fingers to count them on," said Artistic Director and Shout! director Ryan Gibbs.

The creative team includes Andre Valsing (sets), Ryan Gibbs (lights), Jen Dasher (costumes) and Kurt Alger (hair/makeup), and Derek Mauldin (sound). Tara Kelly is the production stage manager.

The evening features 30 hits from the 60s with 90 minutes of great music including "I Only Want to Be With You," "Wishin' & Hopin'," "Don't Sleep in the Subway," "Goldfinger," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," "Diamonds Are Forever," " Those Were the Days," and "Shout!"

Shout! The Mod Musical plays Thursday at 7:30pm, Friday & Saturday at 8:00pm, with matinees Tue., Wed., Thur. & Saturday at 1:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm. Tickets are $38, with special prices for students and children. Dinner/Theatre packages are $59 matinees, $63 evenings. For tickets call (717) 258-3211 or (800) 430-5468.
