Stage Left Theatre has announced the cast for the upcoming production of IN THE BACK / ON THE FLOOR - a world premiere by playwright Ken Green and directed by Rachel Van. The new play examines the issues that minimum wage workers face through the lives of employees at a big-box retail store.

The show is Díaz's anticipated new work since ZULEMA, produced by Goodman Theatre in 2021. Performances take place at Chicago Dramatists from October 19th through November 20th.

Theo Ubique's MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO THE ANDREWS SISTERS Extends Through 10/6

Theo Ubique's wildly popular summer cabaret, which sold out all of its first extension through the end of August, will be performed an additional 11 times between September 6 and October 6. After two weekends of Friday and Saturday 8 PM evening shows September 6, 7, 13 and 14, the sisters will pause for a week while Theo Ubique readies and opens its fall show, A Kurt Weill Cabaret, which will begin previews September 22, 2014. The Andrews Sisters will return on Wednesday, September 24 and play a schedule of varying performance dates through Saturday, October 6, including matinees on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5. The optional meal service will not be offered for the matinees.

Theo Ubique's hit summer cabaret, A Musical Tribute to the Andrews Sisters, has added a month of performances in August following the complete sellout of all its July dates. The schedule continues with performances Thursday through Sunday evenings (though there will be no shows Friday, August 15 through Sunday, August 17), plus Wednesday evening performances beginning August 13. Most theater companies try to mount something during the holiday season. And so it is that the powers that be at Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, that most storefront of all of the Chicago area non-Equity musical theater companies, has mounted a clever idea and unique holiday entertainment called "A Very Merry Madrigal," directed by David Heimann.

Theo Ubique's A VERY MERRY MADRIGAL Opens 11/23

Chicago's selection of seasonal shows this winter will include the exciting addition of Theo Ubique's updating of the Madrigal Dinner tradition for all audiences. Song, food, poetry and variety acts will combine into a most festive feast for A Very Merry Madrigal. Weekend matinee performances plus reduced ticket prices for children under12 will make the event accessible and affordable for families as well as adults. Conceived by David Heimann and Fred Anzevino, A Very Merry Madrigal will offer yuletide folk music from the 15th Century to the 21st, with a cast of six singers and instrumentalists performing new arrangements by Aaron Benham. A wassail (non-alcoholic hot mulled cider) and a figgy pudding dessert will be served to all and an optional dinner entree will be available for an additional charge. Mixed in between the songs, food, and drink will be readings of poems by Shakespeare, Dante and Robert Frost as well as variety acts and selection of a King and Queen from the audience.

Audiences will have eight more opportunities to catch Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's summer hit. The cabaret of over 30 songs by songwriter Cole Porter, which had already extended for six weeks beyond its initial eight-week run, will now be extended for two final weeks, closing on Sunday, September 15th. Artistic Director Fred Anzevino announced the extension on Monday, August 12.
