UMKC Theatre kicks off its 2016-2017 season with the explosive satirical play, O Beautiful by Theresa Rebeck. Co-directed by Stephanie Roberts and Theodore Swetz, O Beautiful will preview October 14, 15, 17, 18, open October 19, and run selected dates through October 23 at the Spencer Theatre, James C. Olson Performing Arts Center, on the UMKC campus.

Atlantic Theater Company will soon present the world premiere musical The Band's Visit, directed by Lortel and Obie Award winner David Cromer and featuring a book by Drama Desk Award nominee Itamar Moses, an original score by three-time Tony Award nominee David Yazbek and choreography by Lee Sher.

Gender/Power Composition IV is an in-process collaborative project led by video artist Maya Ciarrocchi and performance artist Kris Grey in which performers and co-creators Keke Brown, Shawn Escarciga, Ray Ferreira, Massima Lei, Elena Rose Light, Marissa Pereland Pamela Sneed share personal feminist, trans and queer narratives within a framework that blurs authorship.

Maestro Luke Frazier and The American Pops Orchestra - Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra - will open their all-star 2016-2017 season with I'll Be Seeing You: A World War II Love Story on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11 at 8:00 PM.

New York City Center today announced additional casting for the concert performances of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Sunday in the Park with George, October 24 through 26.

THE VOICE WITHIN, written by and starring Broadway's Lindsey Brett Carothers (Bring it On, WICKED (National Tour)) will return to The Duplex for two performances this fall after its acclaimed world premiere on August 7.  The newly announced dates are Today September 22nd at 9:30, and Sunday October 9th at 7pm.  The show is directed by Marshall Pailet with music direction by Andrea Grody. Drew Fornarola and Madame Mathieu Productions will produce.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director, Casey Reitz, Executive Director) has announced that Tony Award winner Reed Birney (The Humans) will star in the leading role of Ken Carpenter in the upcoming New York premiere production of Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tracy Lett's 2003 play, MAN FROM NEBRASKA, directed by David Cromer. Mr. Birney has previously appeared in three Second Stage productions - The Family of Mann, Loose Knit, and Winterplay.

One could say that the Machine chose me first, then I chose it. Adapting Elmer Rice's 1923 expressionist juggernaut was the long-time dream of librettist Jason Loewith. Apparently he had approached other composers with the project to no avail. When he finally inquired as to my interest in the project in January of 2004, I was working as a sound designer on a show he was producing at the Next Theatre Company in Evanston, Illinois, where he served as Artistic Director. Up to that point, I had never written a musical, nor did envision myself writing one and I had never read, seen or even heard of Elmer Rice's The Adding Machine.

Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Route 66 Theatre Company has announced its 9th season, featuring two plays at its new resident home, The Den Theatre, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. The 2017 season kicks off early spring with the world premiere of Gabe McKinley's psychological drama THE SOURCE, directed by Jason Gerace.

The Hypocrites has announced casting for its second production of its 20th Anniversary season, the world premiere of CINDERELLA AT THE THEATER OF POTATOES.

The critically acclaimed hit off-Broadway play The Effect, which extended earlier this year, is currently in its final weeks at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street) and will play its final performance on Sunday, September 4th, 2016 after 20 previews and 192 regular performances.

Just announced, Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, will open on November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). Previews will begin on October 15.
