Iconotheatrix presents their dazzling summer musical, Chicago: High School Edition, August 2 - 4, 2019 at the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH).

Wit, by Margaret Edson, presented by actor Pamela Vogel opens for eight performances in a limited run; a production in the inaugural year of the Houston Equity Festival a collection of local professional actors, all members of the union Actors' Equity Association, each of whom is mounting herhis own show during the summer and fall of 2019. Ms. Vogel (Leap and the Net Will Appear Catastrophic Theatre) plays Vivian Bearing, and Vance Johnson (Bootycandy Theatre) and (Passing Strange Standing Room Only Productions) directs.

Fellow Texan guitar outcasts Scott H. Biram and Jesse Dayton collaborated for a two-song 7” release, Monkey David Wine / Single Again. On Side A, ground zero outlaw David Allan Coe's “Monkey David Wine” gets a sinister gut bucket blues duet treatment. It lands about 11 feet away from Screamin' Jay Hawkins on a ten foot chain. Side B is Gary Stewart's “Single Again.” The cool-as-can-be song is a shaggy-haired, floppy-hatted prime taste of '70s rebel country.

Bright Shiny Things commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising with the release of AS ONE [BSTC-0127, 1 CD], the original-cast first recording of the highly acclaimed 75-minute chamber opera for mezzo-soprano, baritone, and string quartet.

Abramorama, Passion Planet and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios announced today they will release Nicolas Brown'saward-winning documentary THE SERENGETI RULES in theaters nationwide this May. The film will open in New York City at the Quad Cinema on Friday, May 10, 2019 and in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Monica Film Center on Friday, May 17, with and additional select markets in the US and Canada following in the spring and summer. 

The Greenhouse Theater Center today announced Adam Strauss has postponed his hit one-man show THE MUSHROOM CURE, originally scheduled for April 4 - May 5, 2019. The engagement has been rescheduled for May 9 - June 9, 2019.

Throw in an aging diva, dancing gangsters, and a bevy of beautiful chorus girls, and comedic capers ensue. Under the direction of Milissa Carey and music direction of Louis Lagalante, 

The Marsh San Francisco announces the return of its 2017 hit, The Mushroom Cure by Adam Strauss. Inspired by a scientific study that hallucinogenic mushrooms may cure obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Strauss embarked on a program of vigilante psychopharmacology. The true tale of Strauss' hilarious, harrowing, and heartrending attempts to treat his debilitating OCD with psychedelics was an Off-Broadway hit, where it was named Critics' Pick by Time Out New York and hailed by The New York Times as "mining a great deal of laughter from disabling pain" before moving to San Francisco for an extended run. The Mushroom Cure will be presented March 16 - 30, 2019 with performances 8:30pm Saturdays and 5:30pm Sundays at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia St., San Francisco.
