The York Theatre Company presents a one-night only benefit concert celebrating up and coming musical theatre writers, with  NEO 11 on Monday, June 15, 2015 The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  Festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by a champagne and dessert reception to toast the evening.

Tim Firth and Geoff Deane first picked up the true story of W J Brooks and Co., a fifth generation Northamptonshire shoe factory that survived the 1990's by switching from classic brogues to footwear for drag queens after cheap imports flooded the market. The 2005 film Kinky Boots starred Joel Edgerton as factory owner Charlie Price.

Kinky Boots is an exciting evening full of humor and heart. Despite the racy title and drag stars, the show is remarkably family-friendly, rarely straying from PG/PG-13 themes. With equal parts guts and glitter, this extravaganza is sure to please the whole crowd!

First-time Broadway composer Cyndi Lauper, who first conquered the music charts back in the 1980s, recently sat down to talk about her Kinky Boots experience and to share the show's impact on her own life - which provided much of her inspiration as she approached the project.
