Alonzo King LINES Ballet and Grace Cathedral are pleased to announce that internationally celebrated choreographer Alonzo King will be the Artist in Residence at Grace Cathedral in 2019.

The NAACP announced today that Congresswoman Maxine Waters will be honored with the prestigious NAACP Chairman's Award which is bestowed in recognition of individuals who demonstrate exemplary public service and use their distinct platforms to create agents of change. Leon W. Russell, Chairman of the NAACP National Board of Directors, will present Congresswoman Waters with the award at the 50th NAACP Image Awards on March 30, 2019 live at 9pm/8c on TV One.

After 10 days and 121 feature films, the 2019 Sundance Film Festival's Awards Ceremony took place tonight, with host Marianna Palka emceeing and jurors presenting 28 prizes for feature filmmaking. Honorees, named in total below, represent new achievements in global independent storytelling. Bold, intimate, and humanizing stories prevailed across categories, with Grand Jury Prizes awarded to Clemency (U.S. Dramatic), One Child Nation (U.S. Documentary), Honeyland (World Cinema Documentary) and The Souvenir (World Cinema Dramatic).

The short film, “Unspoken,” directed by Jamaican-born, New York-based director Danae Grandison has been named an official selection in the 27th annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF), set to take place February 7-18, 2019 at Cinemark Rave 15, located at 3650 Martin Luther King Drive, and the adjacent Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles. 

According to Deadline, actor Danny Glover is set to join Sony's sequel to the hit JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE. The film is welcoming back cast members Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillian, as well as director Jake Kasdan. Emmy®-Award winning comedienne, actress and author Loni Love will return as host for the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild  2019 Annual Awards (MUAHS, IATSE Local 706) honoring both make-up artists and hair stylists outstanding achievements in motion pictures, television, commercials and live theater. The black-tie gala, held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at The Novo by Microsoft at L.A. Live, will mark Love's fourth year as host. The announcement was made today by Susan Cabral-Ebert, President of IATSE Local 706.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.
