The Broadway production of Lyle Kessler's Orphans starring Alec Baldwin, Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge and directed by Daniel Sullivan, is currently in previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) in preparation for a Thursday, April 18 opening night. The Geffen Playhouse announces nine plays for the 2013/2014 season: three world premieres/adaptations, three West Coast premieres and two productions of familiar works from Pulitzer or Nobel Prize winning playwrights. The remaining title will be announced shortly. Furthering its mission to introduce audiences to new plays, re-imagined classics and emerging voices, the Geffen's schedule - encouraged by continued growth in ticket sales - is the largest in the 19 year history of the organization.

ORPHANS began performances on March 19 and open on April 7 2013 at the Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street), marking the first Broadway staging of the play. Emmy winner and Tony Award and Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin, SAG and Emmy Award winner Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge star in Lyle Kessler's play, directed by Daniel Sullivan and produced by Frederick Zollo and Robert Cole.

Lakewood Theatre Company will begin its 61st season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on its Side Door stage beginning July 12, 2013.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that the 2013 Public Theater annual gala will celebrate the company's acclaimed 1980 production of the musical, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, with a one-night-only concert performance on Monday, June 10 at the Delacorte Theater where The Public's production originally premiered more than three decades ago. The Douglas Morrisson Theatre (DMT) has announced the second production in the 2013-2014 'Bare Bones' staged reading series: Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies, a keenly observed drama exploring the complex relationship between two couples.

Tony nominee Lily Rabe (American Horror Story, Merchant of Venice) joins Broadway actress Laura Heisler (Lucille Lortel and Drama League nominee) and Logan Marshall-Green (Julie Taymor's Across the Universe) for Tony nominee Neil LaBute's world premiere adaptation of August Strindberg's Miss Julie. The production is directed by Obie Winner Jo Bonney, who has directed the Geffen Playhouse productions of LaBute's Some Girl(s), The Break of Noon and Fat Pig. She also directed the theater's West Coast premiere production of By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.

It was announced late last month that due to creative differences, the producers of Orphans and Shia LaBeouf would part ways and he would not continue with the production. LaBeouf revealed additional details on why he dropped out of the production via Twitter, including emails with Alec Baldwin, Tom Sturridge and more. Now he's posted even more emails from the on-going saga that imply that Baldwin was unprepared for rehearsals.

It was announced late last month that due to creative differences, the producers of Orphans and Shia LaBeouf would part ways and he would not continue with the production.
