Chris Thorpe's Status To Tour The UK

When Chris Thorpe performed his one-man show Status at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe, he claimed, provocatively, it wasn't about Brexit. Now, as the withdrawal date draws ever nearer, the Fringe First-winning, globe-spanning show about how we acquire our national identity, and what happens when we try to escape it, confronts head on the guilt, alienation and identity crisis experienced in response to the biggest political upheaval of the Century.

Contender Charlie and China Plate Present ROMEO AND JULIET - MAD BLOOD STIRRING

Independent theatre producers China Plate and foremost theatre education company Contender Charlie will be touring theatres with a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet for upper KS2 and lower KS3 pupils, their teachers and their families. Narrated by the Friar speaking in modern English, Romeo and Juliet - Mad Blood Stirring will include striking visual effects and live music.

Cardiff's Pub Theatre The Other Room Announces Autumn 2018 Season

Today, Cardiff's pub theatre The Other Room, located in Porter's and winner of The Stage's Fringe Theatre of the Year Award 2016, announces its Autumn/Winter 2018 season. Curated and programmed by The Other Room, the season features: a brand new play by Matthew Bulgo; touring productions from In Bed With My Brother, Rive Productions, and the Bush Theatre and Antler; a full production of Chippy Lane Productions scratch night winner Cardiff Boyby Kevin Jones; and a Christmas show from Big Loop Theatre Company.

Dance Artists Sought To Create New Shows For Rural Audiences

The second phase of a scheme to improve access to dance in rural communities has been launched with a call out to artists interested in creating or developing work for village halls. Rural Touring Dance Initiative 2 is a partnership between the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF) and The Place, Take Art and China Plate. Dance is underrepresented on the rural touring circuit and the partnership is seeking to increase opportunities for rural audiences to experience the art form.

Urielle Klein-Mekongo's YVETTE Comes to the Southbank Centre's WOW Festival

Based on her own true story, Urielle Klein-Mekongo's debut show delves into the trials of a young Black girl growing up, from Hello Kitty knickers to 'lightys' to the terrible secret of her stolen childhood. Using original music, spoken word and a loop station, this one woman show presents a story of teenage angst and survival. Following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017, the show is set to open at the Southbank Centre's WOW Festival before touring nationally and returning to London be presented at five leading venues across the city in an innovative new London touring model.

Today, Cardiff's pub theatre The Other Room, located in Porter's and winner of The Stage's Fringe Theatre of the Year Award, announces its Spring 2018 season, entitled LOVESICK.
