Casting for the first two weeks of American Ballet Theatre's 2013 Spring Season at the Metropolitan Opera House was recently announced by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. The season will begin tonight, Monday, May 13 at 6:30 P.M. with the Company's Opening Night Gala, featuring a piece d'occasion choreographed by Marcelo Gomes, set to the second movement of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony and danced by Julie Kent and Roberto Bolle.
11th Annual DanceFest Returns to Stamford's Palace Theatre, Now thru 1/20

The 11th Annual DanceFest 2013 takes place from tonight, January 12th - January 20th at the Palace Theatre in Stamford. DanceFest is an annual dance festival designed for intermediate and advanced dance students ages 10-18 who train at area dance schools from Westchester and Fairfield Counties. Students participate in master classes taught by outstanding professionals in the dance world in seven different disciplines. School directors, teachers and parents are invited to observe the classes. The festival culminates with the Student Festival Performance of original choreography performed on the HARMAN stage of the Palace Theatre on Sunday, January 20th at 6:00 PM.

Manhattan Movement & Arts Center announces a scholarship program for all boys ages 8-22. The Benny Caiola Men of Merit Scholarship offers the opportunity for motivated young men to train with today's leading male dancers as well as distinguished choreographers. Heading this scholarship program will be NYCB Principal Dancer and MYB Artistic Advisor, Daniel Ulbricht.

HIT Entertainment is pleased to announce that Angelina BallerinaTM will be lending her support to hundreds of ballerinas in Central Park on August 2nd, in the attempt to break the Guinness World Record for 'Most Ballerinas En Pointe' at one time. Ballet dancers age 13 and up are invited to be part of this record-breaking event, called 'Break the Ballet Record', to support awareness for dance. Proceeds from the gathering will benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club performing arts program, a partner of the newly launched Angelina Ballerina Stars of Tomorrow (AB Stars) campaign that promotes the joys and benefits of dance for children around the world.

Last night, October 27, Career Transition For Dancers (CTFD) presented its 9th Annual Gala - GOTTA DANCE! A Dance Tribute to Hollywood at City Center. BroadwayWorld attended the gala as well as the dress rehearsal earlier in the day. The nostalgic evening honored and paid tribute to that wonderful era when some of the most superb in dance and choreography was immortalized on film.
