After more than 15 years creating and growing theatre education programs in Central Texas, steward Ginger Morris along with Victor Villalobos and Donelvan Thigpen have created non-profit Impact Arts designed to ensure education is at the forefront of art experiences.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) and Artistic Director Steven Maler are pleased to announce the cast and creative team of Free Shakespeare on the Common in the summer of 2022 - William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Megan Sandberg-Zakian. Performances will begin on The Boston Common on Wednesday, July 20 at 8PM (with press opening on Wednesday, July 27 at 8PM) and end on Sunday, August 7.  

What did our critic think of The Band's Visit in Rochester? The first words in 'The Band's Visit' are 'Once not long ago a group of musicians came to Israel from Egypt. You probably didn't hear about it. It wasn't very important.' These words don't exactly tee-up the audience for a musical full of sparkly costumes and dazzling kick lines, which is good because that's not at all what 'The Band's Visit' comes to deliver. What this show offers is much simpler and more fleeting. It's a story about love, music, and connection.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) presents Maytag Virgin, an uplifting Southern love story by Audrey Cefaly, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright. Called “Touching” and “A real joy to see” by DC Metro Theatre Arts, Maytag Virgin is a heartfelt comedy about love, loss, life, and laundry.

I had many plans for what I wanted my last BroadwayWorld article to be as a Student Blogger. As I have just graduated, and the program only goes until then, I knew my last one had to be special. I considered writing a piece on how scary it is to enter the real world and explore the possibilities that life is completely in your hands. The thought crossed my mind to write about my experience writing for this fantastic website and how it's helped me grow both as a writer and a person over the last two years. There were a million ideas.

The Purple Rose Theatre Company has announced its lineup of plays for its 32nd season, featuring three world premieres and a Michigan premiere play. BASIC GLITCH, the first full-length play by NYC playwright Stephanie Salazar-Amaro, is an official selection of the 2022 Broadway Bound Theatre Festival. The show is set to have an Encore one night only performance at Theatre Row complex on 42nd Street in the Theatre District on June 24, 2022 at 5:00pm.

Nick Arnstein might get all of Fanny's love, but this Broadway season, the Tony Awards are all about Eddie Ryan. Jared Grimes makes his Broadway musical debut in the hit revival of Funny Girl- a performance for which he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.

Mixed by Peter Geiser (Beartooth, Bennett, Chika) and mastered by Brandon Peralta (Flatbush Zombies, Oneohtrix Point Never, Kimbra), the album was self-recorded in a rented cabin in the backcountry of Oregon in 2020. The group has also released “Train Brain Rot” alongside a video codirected by Malison and Jon Cox (Sadurn, Mother Moses). 

Rehearsal images have been released for the world premiere of The Fellowship, an electrifying, hilarious and gripping new play by Roy Williams.  Directed by Paulette Randall, The Fellowship will run from 17 June until 23 July 2022.

Casting has been announced for the upcoming Off-Broadway engagement of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical, Kinky Boots. Performances will begin on July 26th at Stage 42, with an opening night set for August 25th.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. SFDanceworks has announced the program for its fifth season featuring world and regional premieres by Edward Clug, Babatunji Johnson, Laura O’Malley, Dani Rowe and Yin Yue, as well as a revival of Martha Graham’s classic work, Deep Song.
