Houston Symphony Music Director Andres Orozco-Estrada leads the orchestra in Ravel's La valse Jan. 24 and 26 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Jones Hall. Written by the composer of the famed Bolero, La valse is Ravel's tribute to a bygone Vienna, opening with a musical depiction of whirling clouds that reveal waltzing couples. The waltz rhythms become increasingly dramatic and urgent, sweeping everything before them by the piece's end.

Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater have released another song from their recently announced 14th studio album, Distance Over Time. “Fall Into The Light” is the second new song from the album slated for worldwide release on February 22, 2019. ODC Theater is pleased to open its 2019 Season, February 14 – 16, with the world premiere of DIVINING, choreographed by Katie Faulkner for little seismic dance company. Created with a quartet of Bay Area dancers, and featuring a commissioned score by Ben Juodvalkis, Divining is a physical investigation of embodied forms of knowing, from prayer to palm reading to water witching. Award-winning multidisciplinary designer and filmmaker Francesca Molteni is the link between two events taking place on January 21 and 22, 2019 presented by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Toronto (IIC). One of Wallpaper Magazine's "favourite enterprising design women in Milan," Francesca Molteni is the scion of the Molteni furniture empire and founder of the creative lab Muse Factory of Projects. Her film Volevo essere Walt Disney (I wanted to be Walt Disney), an homage to design and architecture giant Alessandro Mendini, will screened at the Design Exchange on January 21 at 6:30 PM. Molteni's curatorial eye, together with that of regular collaborator Maria Cristina Didero, is also behind From A to Zaven, an exhibition by Venice-based design studio Zaven that opens January 22 at 6:30 PM at the IIC. Independent design curator Maria Cristina Didero is known for her expertise in Italian Radical design and has been dubbed "Milan's coolest curator" by Architectural Digest USA.
