Thursday 13th December 2018, 8pm, Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House

Strong female singers and songwriters are celebrated by six magnificent singers supported by a fabulous all female 8 piece band in HEAR ME ROAR. The limited engagement concert at the opera house is a delightful exploration of music by women, for women, that delights all audiences.

The six singers come from a diverse range of backgrounds, both culturally and stylistically. Cairns born daughter of a Torres Strait Islander mother Christine Anu is a 17 time Aria Award nominee. Rock Singer songwriter Sarah McLeod is also the frontwoman of The Superjesus. Tania Doko is probably best known as being half of 90's pop duo Bachelor Girl. Emma Pask is famous for her jazz, having regularly collaborated with James Morrison. Melinda Schneider is a woman of diverse talents from country music to yodeling (not included in the concert). Singer dancer and actress Prinnie Stevens rose to fame on season 1 of THE VOICE and has also performed in a range of musical theatre productions. The eight piece band is led by powerhouse musical director and energetic bassist Tina Harris.

Review: HEAR ME ROAR Is A Fabulous Celebration Of Great Female Singer Songwriters Of the 20th and 21st Century ImageThe evening is a high energy rock concert that shares the singers respect and admiration for the women that have helped shaped the music industry with powerful self-affirming songs that range from 9 to 5, Respect, and God Bless the Child presented by Christine Anu as she channels Billie Holiday. There are heart wrenching poignant pieces like Joni Mitchell's Clouds delivered by Melinda Schneider. Emma Pask delivers a hauntingly smoky rendition of Adele's Someone Like You. Sarah McLeod gives a passionate and deliciously dark rendition of Patti Smith's Because The Night and captures the haunting unique voice of Amy Winehouse in her rendition of Back to Black

There is some amazing storytelling in the interpretations of the pieces and each performer also ensures that they also connect with the audience, engaging with the entire concert hall, not just the front row.
