A.R.T. & Carr Center to Present 'FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM', 2/8

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus, presents "Fighting For Freedom: The Civil War and its Legacies" - with Timothy Patrick McCarthy in conversation with Suzan-Lori Parks, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of Father Comes Home From The Wars (Parts 1, 2, & 3); Henry Louis Gates, Jr., AlphonseUniversity Professor and Director of the Hutchins Center for African & African American Research at Harvard University; and Eric Foner, DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University.

Sheila Callaghan's EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH Begins 1/28 at Rattlestick

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, True Love Productions and The Theatre @ Boston Court have announced that the New York Premiere of Everything You Touch, written by Sheila Callaghan and directed by Jessica Kubzansky, will begin previews Wednesday, January 28 at 8pm at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The official opening night is set for Thursday, February 12 at 7pm. Everything You Touch is scheduled to run through Sunday, March 29, 2015.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical opened at Tennessee Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night. Rudolph pranced into Nashville bringing Christmas spirit along with several recognizable friends like Hermy, Yukon Cornelius, Clarice, the Abominable Snowman, and, of course, Santa Claus. Based on the 1964 stop-motion animation Christmas special that still plays every year, Rudolph the Musical brings the joy of the television special to the stage, while still retaining all of its charm.

BWW Reviews: The Holiday Season Begins With, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER: THE MUSICAL At The Coterie Theatre

The holiday season soars into Kansas City on the nose of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical. The holiday treat opened on Friday November 7 at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center. Jeff Church directs the musical based on the stop-motion animated television special, which starred the voice of Burl Ives. Timothy Splain provides arrangements and orchestrations with script adaptation by Robert Penola.

TDPS Production 'COLLIDESCOPE' Expands National Discussion on Race in America, Now thru 11/14

In response to the seemingly perpetual killings of young black men in America, internationally acclaimed auteur Ping Chong and noted director and dramaturg Talvin Wilks created Collidescope: Adventures in Pre- and Post-Racial America in collaboration with UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies' graduate and undergraduate designers and performers. The show runs tonight, November 7-14 in the Kogod Theatre at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and is a world premiere performance. Conversations with the cast, designers and special panelists follow performances held November 8, 11 and 13, respectively.

The Richmond Symphony to Participate in MUSIC ALIVE: NEW PARTNERSHIPS

Twelve orchestras and composers have been selected to receive Music Alive: New Partnerships grants of $7,500 each, the League of American Orchestras and New Music USA announced today. Matching composers and orchestras who have not previously worked together, the program will support a series of one-week residencies between 2014 and 2016, each culminating in the performance of an orchestral work from the composer's catalog. Orchestras with operating budgets of approximately $7 million and below were eligible to apply.
