The 2023 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.S. playwright Sarah Mantell for their play In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot.

Two women wash up on a distant shore following a boating accident. Dazed by their experience, they look for a path home. But they discover that this unfamiliar land is not what it seems – and that, though they may be together, they have never been further apart. Meet Me at Dawn is a modern fable exploring the mystery of grief and the triumph of everyday love.

The Citizens Theatre will bring the magic of live theatre into the classroom this March, with pupils at two Gorbals primary schools set to enjoy a brand-new production created especially for younger audiences.

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Neal Street Productions, in association with Hera Pictures, have announced casting for the world-premiere of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by RSC Acting Artistic Director Erica Whyman.

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced 10 Finalists for its prestigious playwriting award, the oldest and largest international prize awarded to women+ playwrights.

The incredible, all-female cast has been announced for the world premiere of actor and playwright Eugene O’Hare’s The Dry House at Marylebone Theatre.  The ensemble cast includes Derry Girls’ fan-favourite Aunt Sarah, Kathy Kiera Clarke (The Pale Horse and Bloodlands, BBC; Tartuffe, National Theatre; Medea, Citizens Theatre), who plays the role of Claire.   

Radial Theater Project has announced that tickets are now on sale for the twice-postponed West Coast Premiere of Meet Me at Dawn by Zinnie Harris, running March 24 - April 8, 2023 at 18th & Union in Seattle's Central District.

Michael Dylan (The Stage Award 2022 for Wilf), Dave Hearn (founding member of the Olivier Award-winning Mischief Theatre) and Amy Revelle (Offside), will star in the UK premiere of The Time Machine, a fast-paced and wise-cracking retelling of the world-famous novel by H.G. Wells, written by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, based on a story created with Mark Shanahan.

The Citizens Theatre has announced the cast for Moonset, the company's first production of 2023. A bold and powerful new work from playwright Maryam Hamidi, Moonset will premiere at Glasgow's Tron Theatre from 03 – 11 February (Press performance Tue 07 Feb, 7.30pm) before touring to Edinburgh for a short run at the Traverse Theatre from 16 – 18 February.

Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star Ayden Callaghan will join the previously announced Grammy-nominated, former Pussycat Doll, Melody Thornton for the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of the award-winning international smash hit musical THE BODYGUARD in the roles of Frank Farmer and Rachel Marron respectively.

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced that Amanda Ryan joins the company as Magdalena for the world première of Terry Johnson's The Sex Party – joining the previously announced Will Barton (Tim), Lisa Dwan (Gilly), John Hopkins (Jake), Timothy Hutton (Jeff), Jason Merrells (Alex), Pooya Mohseni (Lucy), Molly Osborne (Hetty) and Kelly Price (Camilla). Amanda Donohoe has had to withdraw for personal reasons.

The University of East Anglia's (UEA) School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing is presenting a short run of Martin Crimp's revolutionary and controversial Attempts On Her Life from 6 – 11 December.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre will be taking audiences on a magical journey to Neverland when it premieres Peter Pan and Wendy, a magical new adaptation of J.M. Barrie classic novel Peter Pan over the festive season. 

Launching Shakespeare’s Globe’s Winter Season, Henry V opens in the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 10 November, running until 4 February.
