Nashville, Tennessee famously nick-named Music City, USA is home to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry and, of course, a plethora of major record labels including Sun Records where Rock and Roll was born.  With such a rich music legacy it's no surprise that many of Rock & Roll's best and brightest passed through Nashville at some point during their celebrated careers.  Tonight, August 1 at 8pm Centenary Stage Company's Summer Jamfest brings the “rock and roll” sound of Music City to the Sitnik Theater of the David and Carol Lackland Center with Nashville Legends.

 'CONSTELLATION – UMA VIAGEM MUSICAL PELOS ANOS 50' is a nice and nostalgic journey on a Rio de Janeiro that no longer exists, directed by Jarbas Homem de Mello from text and idealization by Claudio Magnavita. The musical takes place in the Federal Capital in the 1950s, and has as its protagonist a young dreamer Regina Lucia (Julie), which through a contest sponsored by the Radio Nacional, disputes the privilege to be part of the inaugural flight of the then very modern Constellation aircraft. While craves the award, she has to live with her reality, living in a studio apartment  in Copacabana with her mother (Elizabeth Lovie) and aunt (Andrea Veiga) and to decide between living in a universe of dream and glamor or frustration.

The Diamonds' Dave Somerville Dies at 81

David-Troy Somerville, co-founder and original lead singer of the 1950's rock 'n' roll vocal group The Diamonds and known to music fans around the world as 'Diamond Dave' Somerville, passed away early Tuesday morning in Santa Barbara from cancer. He was 81.
