DM Playhouse to Present RAVE ON! in September
In a high energy, rock n' roll extravaganza, Billy McGuigan returns to the Des Moines Community Playhouse in "Rave On!" for four shows only, Sept. 8-11, 2016. Tickets go on sale June 14, online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, and at the Playhouse ticket office.
In the show, McGuigan and the Rave On Band, re-create all the thrills of a Buddy Holly concert, performing such hits as, "Peggy Sue," "Raining in My Heart," "It's So Easy," "That'll Be the Day," "True Love Ways," "Oh Boy," and of course, "Rave On." McGuigan and the band also celebrate the birth of an era and pay homage to fellow rockers Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper.
McGuigan is America's Premiere Buddy Holly interpreter and has received national attention and critical acclaim for his portrayal. He has appeared in more than 400 performances of "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story," including two sold-out runs at the Playhouse. McGuigan has taken that success and developed this unique and exciting tribute, "Rave On!," which continues that record-breaking tradition with an all-new concert format.
The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
