New York City Center President & CEO Arlene Shuler today announced Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Festival, a month-long digital festival featuring four of the most beloved New Adventures productions filmed live at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London.
In the third and final installment of Reel Adventures-A Festival of Classics, the wonderful Matthew Bourne's The Car Man celebrated its 20th anniversary last night with a screening on Sky Arts. Set in an Italian-American community in sixties America, the story owes more to film noir influences and the story of The Postman Always Rings Twice than Bizet's opera.
Chief Executive Stuart Griffiths said: "Matthew Bourne's work is always warmly received here in Birmingham and this year is certainly no exception. A new production is very exciting and this is reflected in the phenomenal demand for tickets that we have seen over the past few months.
