Dedicated to presenting outdoor performances of Shakespeare's plays, Midsommer Flight is a proud arts partner with the Chicago Park District. Much Ado About Nothing runs July 19 through August 24, Saturdays at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The July 19 - 20 and 26 - 27 performances are at Schreiber Park, 1552 W. Schreiber Avenue, in the field at the corner of Bosworth Avenue and Schreiber Avenue. August 2 - 3 and 9 - 10 performances are at Gross Park, 2708 W. Lawrence Avenue, at the north end of the park along Gunnison Street. The August 16 - 17 and 23 - 24 performances are at Touhy Park, 7348 N. Paulina Street, in the southeast grove along Paulina Street. All performances will be presented free of charge (donations gratefully accepted). In addition, live music will be presented prior to each performance. Audiences are encouraged to come early and bring a picnic to enjoy this free programming. Sundance Institute will present the Sundance NEXT FEST summer festival August 7-10 in Los Angeles, headquartered at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel and offering feature and short film screenings, some paired with live music performances and all celebrating the renegade spirit of independent artists. The event is an extension of the popular NEXT <=> section at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, which showcases stylistically adventurous and bold films, and builds on the Institute's NEXT WEEKEND event, hosted in 2013. The Sundance Film Festival programming staff will select films and music acts for NEXT FEST. The festival is supported by Principal sponsors Acura and YouTube.

On May 13, Signature Sounds will release Blood Test, the latest LP from acclaimed singer-songwriter Kris Delmhorst. The release marks Delmhorst's first album of original material since 2008's Shotgun Singer, which Performing Songwriter described as 'a tour de force of singing, writing and production that gains in richness with each repetition,' and the Boston Herald called 'a work of lo-fi beauty, and evidence of an artist taking flight.' In between, the versatile performer recorded and released Cars, a covers album of songs by the seminal new wave/proto-punk band of the same name, which PopMatters called a 'victory' and noted, 'Cars has the potential to bring a brilliant young songwriter to a wider audience.'
