SeeNoSun OnStage has announced the cast of Killer Joe with DC actor Sun King Davis taking on the title role of Killer Joe Cooper in this gritty southern gothic black comedy.

Killer Joe is the first play written by the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning author of August: Osage County, Tracy Letts. The play derives humor from the dirty realism of stereotypical white trash characters that are not only victims of circumstance, but also victims of themselves, enslaved to their own malice and delusions.

In this withering rustic outlook on the disenfranchised in America, the Smith family hires Killer Joe to do away with mother for the insurance money. Killer Joe decides to bed the Smith's young virgin daughter, Dottie, as sexual collateral against his final fee until the insurance policy is paid. Before it's over nearly everyone is a bloody mess.

SeeNoSun's Founding Artistic Director Michael P. Wright made the cast announcement today. "I'm excited to work with an ensemble that is absolutely unapologetic and fearless," said Wright, who is also directing the play. "Sun King Davis has created a Killer Joe that is a charming and chilling anti-hero. He is an extraordinarily gifted actor with tremendous depth."

SeeNoSun's production of Killer Joe also features Matthew Marcus (Chris Smith), Jennifer Osborn (Dottie Smith), Bill Aitken (Ansel Smith) and Mallory Shear (Sharla Smith).

SeeNoSun OnStage, a theatre company dedicated to "The Art of Darkness," will produce Killer Joe at the DC Arts Center in Adams Morgan, 2438 18th St, Washington, DC 20009, June 5 through June 29 (Thursdays - Sundays). Tickets are available at SeeNoSun.com.

AUDIENCE WARNING: Killer Joe is a graphic and disturbing play with sexual content, nudity and violence. It is recommended for mature audiences only.
