MSNBC Launches New App

Today, MSNBC reveals the launch of the new MSNBC App for iPhone, iPad and iTouch as part of NBCUniversal's TV Everywhere cross-portfolio rollout. The free, first generation app features a customizable user experience with live streaming, clips of select MSNBC programming, and additional show content. This launch marks an important step in NBCUniversal's long-term strategy to provide both viewers and marketers a user-friendly way to engage with its content on multiple platforms.

MSNBC beat CNN for the month of October in the key morning, weekday primetime and M-Su primetime dayparts according to data from Nielsen. MSNBC was also up across the board among total viewers and A25-54 in all key dayparts compared to September 2013.

The day will include live coverage from both Washington, D.C. and New York with Chris Matthews anchoring live from the National Mall throughout the day beginning at 11AM ET. Following President Obama's remarks at approximately 4PM ET, MSNBC will present Dr. Martin Luther King's entire 'I Have a Dream' speech. And, Chris Hayes will host a special “All In” at 8PM ET live from Washington, D.C.

FOX News Channel saw the network's lowest weekday Primetime performance among A25-54 in more than twelve years - since August 2001.

Chris Matthews to Remain at MSNBC Through 2016

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthews, 67, has signed a new long-term deal to remain with the network through the next presidential election. Under his the new contract, the long-time news commentator will officially retire from his Syndicated Sunday show THE CHRIS MATTHEWS SHOW this summer. The final episode is set to air on July 21.
