Full Cast Announced for 1812 Productions' IT'S MY PARTY: THE WOMEN AND COMEDY PROJECT

Beginning in April, 2013, 1812 Productions will present the world premiere comedy It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project, created and directed by 1812 Productions' Artistic Director, Jennifer Childs, and featuring a diverse ensemble of Philadelphia actresses. A production which will use physical comedy, storytelling, and music in a one-of-a-kind theatrical event, the creative process for It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project began in 2010 with two questions: how do women use comedy and how does that usage change as they age. With these pointed inquiries as her guides, Ms. Childs embarked on three inclusive and ongoing initiatives which, together, would form the core of the Project.

Mauckingbird Theatre Company Presents BAD SEED, 1/25-27

Mauckingbird Theatre Company, best known for its clever, poignant reflection on classic works through a gay lens, takes on a new kind of classic with a staged reading of the 1950s play Bad Seed by Maxwell Anderson. Directed by Mauckingbird Artistic Director Peter Reynolds, the reading includes performances by Barrymore Award winner Amanda Schoonover as 9-year-old Rhoda Penmark, the titular "bad seed," and Michelle Eugene as her suffering mother Christine Penmark. The Bad Seed runs for one weekend only, January 25-27, at the Off-Broad Street Theater. Philadelphia's own Martha Graham Cracker will serve as hostess for the reading, which benefits Mauckingbird, Philadelphia's award-winning professional gay-themed theatre company.

Having been laid off from his university faculty position, Bertolt Brecht scholar Dick Fig (Dan Hodge) is forced to endure an exit interview with Eunice (Cheryl Williams), an eccentric and ultra-religious administrator. When faced with his personal pet peeve, small talk, Dick dives into discussions on science and religion that culminate in an encounter with a masked gunman. Product placement, ex-girlfriend drama, offensive cheerleaders, political agendas and a visit from a priest combine in this comedic and abrasive new play.

Mauckingbird Theatre Company turns a gay lens on William Shakespeare's timeless comedy Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Mauckingbird Artistic Director Peter Reynolds, August 10 - 26. Contrasting the romantic entanglements of the young and spontaneous Claudio and Hero (Griffin Back and Cameron Slusser) with the bantering rivalry of Beatrice and Benedick (Sean Thompson and Matt Tallman), Mauckingbird produces a timely exploration of marriage, jealousy, love and honor through the eyes of gay men.

The Little Foxes, Lillian Hellman's classic play, may have been written in 1939, but it still packs a powerful punch. David Swartz of Ambler directs the Actors' NET of Bucks County production of Hellman's stage expose of poisonous relationships within a Southern family in the early 20th century, running tonight, June 8 through June 24 at the Heritage Center in Morrisville.
