BWW Review: CM Performing Art Center presents MAMMA MIA! at the Noel S. Ruiz Theatre

You will not be disappointed when you see a production of the worldwide hit Mamma Mia!. As the current offering from the Noel S. Ruiz Theater at CM Performing Arts Center, this show boasts a remarkable cast. Running through March 9th at the Oakdale venue, Patrick Grossman directs the superb production featuring our favorites from pop group ABBA.

BWW Review: THE LITTLE FOXES: Lillian Hellman's Classic Bares Its Fangs At Lyric Stage

Eighty years after the Broadway premiere of Lillian Hellman's THE LITTLE FOXES, the Lyric Stage Company production, under the direction of Scott Edmiston, demonstrates that the classic American drama has lost none of its punch. A titanic team of actors portrays the dynamic within the rapacious Hubbard family and the collateral damage they impose on all who have the misfortune of being in their path. Without exception, the characters are three-dimensional, fully realized, and thoroughly alive, compelling the audience to engage with them on an intensely emotional level.

Philip Himberg Named New Executive Director of MacDowell

Philip Himberg will join The MacDowell Colony, one of the nation's leading contemporary arts organizations, as its executive director. Himberg comes to MacDowell from The Sundance Institute where he has served as the artistic director for Sundance Institute's Theatre Program, expanding the program significantly by providing year-round support for theatre artists, creating international labs for the development of talent and transforming it into one of the pre-eminent play development organizations in the world.

THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME Comes To Life Onstage At Village Theatre

Winner of five Tony Awards and Seven Olivier Awards, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will run at Village Theatre beginning this March. The production, directed by Village Theatre artistic director Jerry Dixon, will be his first directing credit since becoming the organization's artistic leader in June of 2018. Village Theatre's production features an all-new score by Curtis Moore (Broadway: Lucky Guy with Tom Hanks), as well as choreography by Sonia Dawkins (Prism Dance Theatre).

The Tank Presents Limited Engagement Of IWATTAU

On February 18 and 19, The Tank, an Off-Off Broadway theatre in New York City, will feature a limited engagement run of a very unique show, IWATTAU. 20/20 to Air Two-Hour Documentary on Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy and his horrifying killing spree in the 1970s have captured the nation's attention for decades. On the heels of the 30th anniversary of Bundy's execution, a two-hour “20/20” event provides new insight into Bundy's vicious past and crimes. He admitted to murdering at least 30 women and girls, many of whom he kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Authorities believe he may have been responsible for as many as 100 homicides. The prime-time documentary features new interviews with key players, including surviving victims and those who were vital in helping place Bundy behind bars. “20/20” airs Friday, Feb. 15 (9:00 – 11:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. 

BWW Review: PIPELINE at Victory Gardens Theater

In PIPELINE, playwright Dominique Morisseau reflects on the cracks in the inner-city public-school system, and the ways in which it often functions as a school to prison pipeline for young black men, without vilifying the system's participants. It's a skillfully crafted balance that demonstrates how the brokenness of the system is disheartening for teachers and students alike. And under the direction of Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Victory Gardens Theater's ensemble makes this a very human struggle.
