Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced the expansion of its online programs and events through August 2020. Arena Artistic Director Molly Smith has curated a diverse and engaging Spring/Summer Season, Looking Forward, connecting artists and audiences locally and nationally.

Building on over 40 years of producing powerful contemporary theatre, Studio Theatre is pleased to announce its largest class ever of commissioned artists to Studio R&D, its incubator to support the creation of new work. Studio will award grants to 10 artists-playwrights, directors, and multidisciplinary creators-investing in its future while supporting theatre-makers and expanding the idea of what it means to be a generative artist. For the first time, Studio R&D commissions are being awarded to support the creation of audio plays, as Studio explores alternate modes of theatrical storytelling in response to the present moment.

Spending lockdown in Israel, playwright James Inverne decided to put together an audio recording of his 2018 play A Walk With Mr Heifetz and stream it online for free, but soliciting donations for two Israeli charities - the AICF (America Israel Cultural Foundation) and Meir Panim.

Karen Zacarias's hilarious play Destiny of Desire was set to end Milwaukee Rep's 2019/20 Season in the Quadracci Powerhouse. While the hope was to delay the production to June, that option is no longer possible.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW postponed tonight's April 27th duo concert -- Jane Bruce and TUCKER in JANE & TUCKER: STRIPPED -- until Monday August 10 at 9:30PM. The two singer-songwriters -- who first met at the 2019 Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project -- have released a funny video collaboration in which they lament their postponed show and the challenges of their respective quarantines through an original song.

New York's Cherry Lane Theatre has partnered with Vermont's JAG Productions to present the World Premiere of Nathan Yungerberg's Esai's Table, directed by Obie Award Winner Stevie Walker-Webb (Jordan Cooper's Ain't No Mo' at the Public) which will begin performances on March 19 before its opening night on March 31 running through April 25, 2020 at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street).

Leah Ryan's Fund For Emerging Women Writers celebrates ten years of awarding it's prize to women playwrights with 10 X 10: An Evening of 10 Minute Plays Celebrating Ten Years of Winners. The gala event will take place at Cherry Lane Theatre on March 30 and will feature world premiere short plays from past recipients Megan Mostyn Brown, Genia Femia, Jiehae Park, and Eliana Pipes. A pre-show cocktail reception begins at 6:00pm, followed by the main performance at 7:00pm and an afterparty at Cowgirl. The evening will be under the direction of Daniella Topol. LAByrinth Theater Company (John Ortiz, Artistic Director; Aaron Roman Weiner, Associate Artistic Director) begins rehearsals today for its latest world premiere production, Bees and Honey. Milwaukee Rep has announced the complete cast and creative teams for the final productions of the 2019/20 Season including the world premiere Antonio's Song / I Was Dreaming of a Son by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith and Antonio Edwards Suarez in the Stiemke Studio March 24 - April 5, 2020; the world premiere event Hootenanny: The Musicale by celebrated musician David Lutken in the Stackner Cabaret March 27 - May 24, 2020; and the telenovela of passion and deception Destiny of Desire by Karen Zacarías in the Quadracci Powerhouse April 21 - May 17, 2020.

Adam Strauss' 2017 hit, The Mushroom Cure, will return to The Marsh San Francisco for a limited run before transferring to The Marsh Berkeley. Inspired by a scientific study that hallucinogenic mushrooms may cure obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Strauss embarked on a program of vigilante psychopharmacology. The true tale of Strauss' hilarious, harrowing, and heartrending attempts to treat his debilitating OCD with psychedelics was an Off-Broadway hit, where it was named Critics' Pick by Time Out New York and hailed by The New York Times as 'mining a great deal of laughter from disabling pain' before moving to San Francisco for an extended run. It then moved to Chicago, where the Chicago Tribune praised it as 'arrestingly honest and howlingly funny,' awarding it a 3.5 (out of 4) stars. The Mushroom Cure will be presented March 21 - April 11 with performances at 8:30pm Saturdays at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia St., San Francisco.
