Centaur Launches First Artistic Diversity Discussion

On September 21, 2020 Centaur made good on its commitment to a more diverse and inclusive future with the launch of the first monthly Artistic Diversity Discussion at Centaur (ADD @ Centaur).

Infinithéâtre/McGill University Presents Shakespeare's Sonnets At Moyse Hall

Infinitheatre, presented by McGill Department of English in collaboration with Early Modern Conversions Project-Shakespeare's Sonnets: Transforming the Voices of Montreal. Along with live music and video, see the sonnets like never before; contemporary, urban and conversational. Fall in love with the universal themes of life, love and death, or be smitten all over again. Directed by Infinitheatre Artistic Director Guy Sprung, along with Mask Master Brian Smith, the show runs for one week only, October 22-27, at the beautiful Moyse Hall theatre in McGill University's Arts Building. There will be post-show artist talks after each performance.

Francois Archambault's YOU WILL REMEMBER ME Gets Quebec English-Language Premiere at Centaur Theatre

Francois Archambault, the Governor General Award-winning Quebecois playwright, receives the Quebec English-language premiere of his 2015 play, You Will Remember Me (Tu te souviendras de moi), at Centaur Theatre from March 7th to April 2nd, 2017. The coincidentally titled production is the last play that Roy Surette will direct as Centaur's Artistic and Executive Director before returning to the West coast in June to helm Touchstone Theatre.

Montreal's Local Indie Scene Invites 8 Companies for their 16-17 Season!

This 2016-2017 season, eight professional theatre companies at the core of the local indie scene, satisfy a vast range of tastes and interests with stories that stimulate imagination, understanding, discussion and change. English-speaking audiences can become acquainted with French playwrights or young students can take their first step in a life-long appreciation of theatre. Homegrown plays, lauded nationally and abroad, are presented by some companies while others play cultural ambassadors and tour their offerings inside and outside the province. Fact-based productions bring Canadian history to vivid life or delve into stories of other countries and cultures. Theatre-goers will experience characters' challenges and triumphs, embark on spiritual, emotional and historical journeys, see life through the eyes of the disenfranchised and the persecuted, or explore issues of sexuality, freedom, and power. An alphabetical list, by company, follows.

2015-16 METAs Nominees Announced

The Montreal English Theatre Awards (METAs) recognize and celebrate outstanding artistic work in Montreal's English Theatre. Established in 2012, the peer-juried awards exist to promote professional and emerging English theatre artists and companies, to heighten their visibility both regionally and beyond, and to elevate the level of critical discourse about theatre in Montreal amongst artists and with the community at large.

After the record-breaking, critically acclaimed Montreal Premiere of Elizabeth Rex, Tableau D'Hote Theatre returns for its 8th season with a re-telling of the enchanting Northern Aboriginal folktale Sedna: Goddess of the Sea. The Segal Centre presents this Tableau D'Hote premiere production adapted and directed by celebrated artist Jessica Abdallah. Sedna: Goddess of the Sea plays at the Segal Centre Studio for a limited run tonight, September 30 to October 6, 2013.
