James Moody Jazz Festival Starting Comes to NJPAC In November

Recognized by the world not only for their bold-face names, but especially by their superb talents, New Jersey Performing Arts Center's seventh annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival (November 4-18) is packed with performances by today's most listened-to luminaries on the jazz scene. NJPAC Jazz Advisor, six-time Grammy winner Christian McBride says, 'I'm beyond excited to announce the seventh annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival at NJPAC. It's gonna be a good one, baby. There's something very, very special about jazz vocalists, and we're committed to making sure the legacy of jazz vocals is alive and thriving. This year we'll present the world's finest singers, from Dianne Reeves and Gregory Porter to Cecile McLorin Salvant and Lalah Hathaway, and will continue to search for the next greats through the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition -- the SASSY Awards -- which is always a huge hit.'

Ahmad Jamal Quartet Kicks Off Segerstrom Center's 2018-19 Jazz Season

Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents the Ahmad Jamal Quartet for one performance only on October 19 at 8:00pm. BWW Interview: Matthew Morrison Will Bring Glee to Bay Area Cabaret; Recalls Weinstein Woes on Broadway

Matthew Morrison couldn't be more 'Glee'-ful about launching Bay Area Cabaret's 15th Anniversary Season on Sept. 30 at the world-famous Venetian Room at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. 'I love places that have so much history,' says the Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee. Among the celebrated singers who've sung there: Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Marlene Dietrich, Peggy Lee and Tina Turner. And in 1961, Tony Bennett first performed 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco' there, which is especially apt since the Fairmont sits high upon Nob Hill, 'where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars.'

City Parks Foundation Presents the 26th Annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival

City Parks Foundation's SummerStage is proud to announce the 26th Anniversary celebration of the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. The free festival is New York City's annual salute to the legendary late saxophonist, featuring storied veteran players as well as young jazz musicians who continue to shape and drive the art form. Emmy-Nominated Star Grant Aleksander To Perform Off-Broadway In PERFECT CRIME

Emmy Nominated actor Grant Aleksander, best known for his role as Philip Spaulding on Guilding Light is replacing two other daytime drama legends Robert Newman (Guiding Light) and Richard Shoberg (All My Children), in Off Broadway's longest running play, Perfect Crime. Mr. Aleksander is returning to the role of Detective Asher (a role he took on this Spring) and begins performances tonight.

The Off-Broadway League Announces Its First Female President

The Off-Broadway League has announced that Terry Byrne was elected as the new President of The Off-Broadway League. Byrne is the first female president in the nearly 60 year history of the League. The organization also announced three new additions to the Board, including Dean Carpenter, Steven Chaikelson and Casey York.
