Chance Theater presents the fifth show of its 15th Anniversary Season - a family-friendly holiday offering The Secret Garden - The Musical with book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Marsha Norman, music by Tony Award nominee Lucy Simon, and directed by Casey Long and KC Wilkerson. The Secret Garden - The Musical will preview on November 29 and 30, open November 30 and continue through December 29 at Chance Theater.

Chance Theater, one of the leading ensemble-driven theatre companies in Southern California, publicly announces its plans to move into a new theater that will double the square footage and has the potential to triple the seating capacity. This major news from the Chance comes after months of strategic planning and successful fundraising efforts, with $235,000 of the first phase's $465,000 goal raised thus far. The Chance is slated to move into its new home in time to kick off its 2014 Season in February.

This year, Chance Theater is opening up its summer youth program Speak Up - Take A 'Chance' to all students. Over five weeks, students will work collaboratively with their peers to write, design, and perform a new play under the mentorship of Chance staff, professional designers and professional actors! Led by Chance Resident Artist Tanae Beyer, this program is designed for students 12-18 years old, and runs from June 24 through July 29, culminating in two performances of their original show on July 29 and 30 at 7pm at Chance Theater. Students must register by June 15.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle's 43rd Annual Awards Show will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012 at A Noise Within in Pasadena. The show will feature performances from previously-announced hosts Jason Graae (recipient of the 2007 Joel Hirschhorn Award for outstanding achievement in musical theatre) and Lesli Margherita (nominee for Kiss Me, Kate). In addition, the Awards show will feature the Los Angeles premiere performance of My Husband, by Paul Rudnick, a short play added to the New York production of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Also, Yvette Tucker and Salvatore Vasallo will perform an excerpt from "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue," from On Your Toes, choreographed by this year's Hirschhorn Award recipient, Lee Martino.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles, Orange County and Ventura County theatre for the year 2011. The 43rd Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 19, 2012 at A Noise Within, the acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, in its new 33,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art venue in Pasadena, thanks to the generous donation of A Noise Within's management. The theatre is located on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Madre Villa Avenue at 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107. Tickets are $40, and should be reserved in advance from the LADCC's website, at www.ladramacriticscircle.com. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for pre-show hors d'oeuvres (with no-host bar), and the show commences at 7:30 p.m.

The Chance is set to present a pair of productions that are perfect for the holidays beginning November 18 and running through December 27, 2011.

There's an old adage that says a person has at least one other person somewhere in the world whom they're meant to be with, and that fate will eventually bring them together. That idea seems to be the impetus for Chance Theater's production of Adam Szymkowicz's 2006 play NERVE, which continues its West Coast debut performances through February 27 in Anaheim Hills. While not the most groundbreaking play out there, NERVE certainly takes an admirable stab at being an atypical portrait of a romance-in-the-making between two damaged, extremely flawed characters, making it more interesting than your average date night comedy.

It's quirky, it's funny, it's edgy, and it's getting rave reviews and standing ovations. It's the West Coast premiere of Nerve by Adam Szymkowicz that runs through February 27 at Chance Theater. The play is directed by Marya Mazor.
