Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is pleased to announce the fifth show in our 19th Anniversary Season… Tribes. Written by Nina Raine and directed by Marya Mazor, Tribes will preview from September 24 through September 29; regular performances will begin September 30 and continue through October 22 at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center on the Cripe Stage.

Aurora Theatre Company opens its 26th season with Rebecca Gilman's (Blue Surge, Spinning Into Butter, The Sweetest Swing in Baseball) LUNA GALE. Aurora Artistic Director Tom Ross directs this powerful and arresting Bay Area Premiere, featuring Jamie Jones (Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance, Mud Blue Sky, Gideon's Knot), Laura Jane Bailey (Mud Blue Sky), Devin S. The first act of Cloud Nine revolves around a British family in colonial Africa. Clive, the patriarch, rigidly maintains that his family perfectly embodies Victorian values but reality is more complex than he would like to admit. Act Two takes place in 1979 but features several of the same characters as Act One, thus highlighting the differences (and surprising similarities) of the Victorian and modern eras.

Rehearsals commence today for Cloud Nine, Caryl Churchill's witty exploration of the complex politics of human relationships, directed by Sydney Theatre Company's (STC's) Artistic Director Kip Williams following the success of his production of another of the playwright's beguiling works, Love and Information in 2015. Set and costumes are by STC's Resident Designer Elizabeth Gadsby, with lighting by Alexander Berlage, composition by Chris Williams and sound design by Nate Edmondson.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier today, the Shaw Festival honoured former Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell's fourteen year tenure by renaming the Studio Theatre. In front of an audience of donors, company members and patrons, the space was officially christened the Jackie Maxwell Studio Theatre just days before Middletown takes residency for the season.
