Sarah Jones Kicks Off New York Live Arts 2019-20 Season

Back by popular demand, the New York Live Arts (Live Arts) season opens with the return of Tony Award -winning playwright and performer Sarah Jones and her critically acclaimed Sell/Buy/Date, September 12-15 and 18-21, 2019. After a sold out workshop run at Live Arts in 2015 and sold out premiere runs at Manhattan Theatre Club in New York and The Geffen in Los Angeles, Jones brings the complete work back for a special limited engagement.

THE VALKYRIES Joins LadyFest At The Tank With All Female Creative Team

The Valkyries written by Jessica Owens and directed by Blayze Teicher will be presented as part of The Tank's LadyFest, a festival featuring pieces written, directed, produced, acted, managed, and designed all by female or gender non-confirming artists. The festival is 'in celebration of womxnhood and the female voice, in all its glory.'

The Los Angeles premiere of multi-genre writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's GOOD BOYS has just begun previews at the Pasadena Playhouse. As the adult in this situation, Brandon's mother Elizabeth must face the myriad of new choices that her family must now select. Betsy Brandt (known to television viewers for her roles in Breaking Bad and Life In Pieces, among many others) portrays the pivotal role of Elizabeth Hardy. Betsy managed to find a few moments to answer my inquiring queries amidst her crazy, hectic schedule.

The production will play June 26 through Sunday July 21; the press opening is June 30 at 5:00pm.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, announces the latest news on its spring and summer programming.  Academy and Tony Award Nominee John C. Reilly and an amazing ensemble of actors will create a spirited evening of Story Theater in Gather: Surprising Stories & Other Mischief, which Reilly has created with Patrick Murphy, who will also direct. The production will play Friday, May 24  through Saturday, June 22, in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre of the Pasadena Playhouse.

Pittsburgh CLO Announces Cast of New Musicals Weekend

Pittsburgh CLO will launch its second New Musicals Weekend, a project of the Next Generation Campaign's New Small Musicals Initiative. New Musicals Weekend, the mini version of the SPARK festival, takes the core goals of SPARK and puts them into action over just seven days. New Musicals Weekend aims to develop new musicals for the CLO Cabaret by supporting writing teams with financial and creative resources and by building relationships with local and national artists.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, announces the Los Angeles premiere of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys, directed by Carolyn Cantor. The production is Aguirre-Sacasa's fresh and revisited look at his previous work, Good Boys and True (world premiere, Steppenwolf Theatre Company), and will play from Wednesday, May 29 through Sunday June 23; the press opening is June 2 at 5:00pm.
