Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall returns to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater with the world premiere of her most personal project to date-the fierce comedy-drama The Blood Quilt. Hall is an inaugural resident playwright of Arena Stage's American Voices New Play Institute, and The Blood Quilt is one of three plays from Hall receiving world premieres around the country this season. Hall reunites with director and Howard University alumna Kamilah Forbes (artistic director of the Hip-Hop Theater Festival) following their Broadway collaboration on The Mountaintop. Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of President Abraham Lincoln, is the subject of a new play which premieres this month, marking 150 years since the President's assassination. Ford's Theatre, the site of the crime that took the civil rights legend from us, has commissioned playwright James Still to capture a moment in time which very little is known about.

Sundance Institute announced today the acting company for its 2010 Theatre Lab on Governors Island, which began yesterday June 1 and runs through June 12. Under artisitc direction of Philip Himberg, Producing Artistic Director of the Sundance Instittute Theatre Program, the Lab will provide these projects with guidance in the development of new work for the stage.

The Working Theatre will be presenting a staged reading of Bugs of the Pigs in the Lions, by Kia Corthron. The event will take place on April 19 at 7PM and will feature direction by Kent Gash.
