British singer-songwriter and producer Chantitown shares 'Cause and the Cure', the first single to be taken from her upcoming debut EP of the same title, released independently on the 13th July. The EP was co-produced and co-composed with Jim Huswuit (Universal Music, National Theatre, Almeida Theatre) who also holds credit as People's Music Award Film and Music Composer. 'Cause and the Cure' was mixed and mastered by reputable engineer Chris Coulter, who has worked with well-respected artists such as Dan Austin (Ocean Size, Pixies), Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan, New Kingdom), Pip Williams (Status Quo), Rupert Christie (U2 / Green Day) and more. The single also includes notable percussionist Paul Clarvis who has worked with musical greats such as Mick Jagger, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder and Sir Paul McCartney, to name but a few.

The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) proudly announced the cast and creative team for the theater's summer musical, West Side Story. Directed by Haj, this major revival of a timeless classic will play June 16 - August 26, 2018, on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. 5-STAR THEATRICALS (formerly Cabrillo Music Theatre) continues its 2017-2018 season with the Thousand Oaks premiere of THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Peter Parnell (based on the Victor Hugo Novel and songs from the Disney film), musical direction by Dan Redfeld, choreography by Michelle Elkin and directed by Misti B. Wills. THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME opens on Friday, April 20, 2017 and runs through Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.  

On May 16-18, The New York Foundling and Mott Haven Academy will present the newly revised production of Unstoppable the Musical, performed by the students of Haven Kids Rock at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture. This year's production is led by Broadway producer Dan Stone (Dear Evan Hansen, Beautiful, The Carol King Musical and the forthcoming production, The Prom), who has taken a lead role in preparing the kids for three nights of performances this May with 820 tickets available for purchase.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. In 2014 the musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder won 4 Tony awards of which one was for the best musical. It won in contest with musicals like Aladdin and Beautiful - the Carol King Musical. As I seen both of them and really liked them. I had quite high expectations on 'Gentlemannen' as it is called in Swedish when I saw the dress rehearsal the 24th of January at Oscars Theatre in Stockholm.

I think we all felt the earth move a little bit at Clowes Hall this week. Beautiful, the musical of Carol King's life, is on stage now. The singer/composer famous for hits like 'It's Too Late' and 'You've Got a Friend' had a incredible career and the musical chronicles her rise to stardom in the 1960s.

Colton Ryan (Dear Evan Hansen), Dan DeLuca (Newsies), Kaitlyn Frank (Newsies), Jennafer Newberry (Freaky Friday), and Ximone Rose (Beautiful: The Carol King Musical) have joined 54 Sings Jason Mraz at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club on Tuesday, January 9th.

The 2017 awards honor productions which opened between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017. Nominations were completely reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended October 31, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors.
