Artist Series presents The Capitol Steps, playing Florida State College at Jacksonville's South Campus Wilson Center for the Arts, Tuesday, February 5th - Sunday, February 10th, for eight performances, matinees and evenings.
The Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA) will host CABARET!, an Evening of Music, Songs and Laughter on May 20, 2013 featuring members of The Capitol Steps and with performances by CCTA students and alumni. The event will be held at Toby's Dinner Theatre-Columbia beginning at 5:30pm with cocktails, dinner and a silent auction. Preceeds will benefit the children's theater Scholarship Fund and Outreach Programs that make quality arts programming accessible to youth in under-resourced communities.
Thirty years ago, THE CAPITOL STEPS began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the following years, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ('Don't quit your day job!'), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.
