With nearly 4,000 shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe it can be a little overwhelming to select which shows to see. BWW reviewer Natalie O'Donoghue has narrowed down her top ten picks in the theatre section of the programme.

Under Sarah Frankcom's Artistic Directorship the Royal Exchange Theatre has been redefined, reimagined and reframed. The first thing I should say is: this story isn't mine. I found it in a pub in October 2016 in the shape of a 68-year-old actor and playwright called Ray Castleton. He had been to an artist's development performance of Operation Crucible in the Crucible's Studio Theatre in Sheffield, and he was telling me about himself and a play he had written for a project called Experience Barnsley.

Award-winning comedian, actor, writer and director Harry Enfield will play Hollywood studio boss Glogauer in Richard Jones' production of Once in a Lifetime from 25 November in the Young Vic's Main House. Joining Enfield in the company are Daniel Abelson, Claudie Blakley, Okorie Chukwu, Lucy Cohu, Lizzy Connolly, Buffy Davis, Otto Farrant, Amy Griffiths, Amanda Lawrence and John Marquez. Further casting is still to be announced. Joe Hill-Gibbins returns to the Young Vic and to Shakespeare following his critically acclaimed Measure for Measure in 2015. A Midsummer Night's Dream will play the Young Vic's Main House 17 February - 1 April.

Daniel Evans today announces his final season as Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director, including the eagerly anticipated news of the Crucible's Christmas show, Irving Berlin's whip-cracking musical Annie Get Your Gun. The season also includes two world premieres on the Crucible stage - an adaptation of a classic novel and an exciting new musical set in Sheffield.
