OPERATION CRUCIBLE to Premiere at the Davenport Theatre

By:

Following its critically acclaimed run at the Brits Off Broadway Festival, the much-applauded British production of Operation Crucible premieres in New York City at The Davenport Theatre, 354 W. 45th Street, October 31, 2018 and running through December 23, 2018 at Tues-Sat - 8pm; Sat & Sun 2:30pm and 7pm.

History combines with personal trauma in this unique story of war, friendship and survival written by actor and playwright, Kieran Knowles and directed by Bryony Shanahan.

Set during the height of the "blitz" during World War II, Operation Crucible (code named by the Germans referring to its unique 18th century steelmaking) is based on the true story of the December 12, 1940 bombing of the Marples Hotel in the industrial city of Sheffield. It took only one German bomb to decimate the seven-story hotel into mere rubble. Unbelievably, four men survived the attack, only to be trapped in one of the hotel's remaining and intact cellars. Operation Crucible is their story.

Operation Crucible showcases British talent that includes: Kieran Knowles (touring production of Taming of the Shrew and The Winter's Tale for The Royal Shakespeare Company and the UK Touring company of Richard Bean's play, Toast), Salvatore D'Aquilla (War Horse for the National Theatre/West End), Chris McCurry (Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme for Headlong Theatre), and James Wallwork (31 Hours for the Bunker Theater).
