NewFest will also celebrate its 30th anniversary by looking back at cornerstones of LGBT cinema with two retrospective screenings, including the Legacy Centerpiece - Lisa Cholodenko's HIGH ART in 35mm print, celebrating its 20th anniversary (the film was also Opening Night at NewFest 1998), followed by a Q&A with Patricia Clarkson and Cholodenko, and a 10th anniversary screening of Gus Van Sant's MILK with Stuart Milk in attendance (Global LGBT Rights campaigner, Co-Founder of the Harvey Milk Foundation and nephew of Harvey Milk).
'The Bisexual,' a six-part series co-written and directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Desiree Akhavan, has been pre-bought by Canal Plus Group for France and all its territories, Sky Network for New Zealand (TV rights) and Stan for Australia (digital rights), according to Variety.

It was announced today that the world premiere production of Asking for It by Louise O'Neill will be performed on the Abbey stage next November. This much anticipated production is produced by Landmark Productions and the Everyman and co-commissioned by the Abbey Theatre. Conceived as a large-scale, technically ambitious production, it will be adapted for stage by Meadhbh McHugh in a collaboration with Annabelle Comyn, who also directs. The creative team also includes set designer Paul O'Mahony; lighting designer Sinead McKenna; sound designer Philip Stewart. Tickets for both venues are on sale now.
