Last night, the Lincoln Center Fall Gala honored John E. Waldron for his continued support of the arts. The evening raised over $4 million in support of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and featured star-studded appearances and performances on the Adrienne Arsht Stage at Alice Tully Hall: Kelli O'Hara, Jane Lynch, Lynn Ahrens, Harolyn Blackwell, Sierra Boggess, Elli Choi, Amber Iman, Julie Kent, Storm Large, Marilyn Maye, Dianne Reeves, Bria Skonberg, Essential Voices USA, The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, and New York City Ballet principal dancers Sterling Hyltin and Tyler Angle.
The 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival wrapped up Sunday, September 29, with fans from across California and the country descending on the Monterey County Fairgrounds for a weekend which featured nearly 130 performances and events. Dan Levinson's Midsummer Night's Jazz Party returns to the Bickford Theatre as part of Summer JazzFest for one night only on Thursday, August 2 at 7:30 pm. For his annual appearance at the popular festival, Levinson dispenses with music scores and stands for a jam session in the tradition of the legendary jazz clubs of the forties and fifties such as Eddie Condon's and Nick's. Joining the popular clarinetist will be Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet, Harvey Tibbs on trombone, Mark Shane on piano, Rob Adkins on bass, and Paul Wells on drums. And as customary, the concert will be preceded by a food truck picnic.
