VELVET Opens at QPAC

?The Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) season of VELVET opened with a bang on Thurs 21 April, in the Centre's Cremorne Theatre.

The award winning hit show from the 2015 Adelaide Fringe Festival returns in the Spiegeltent: Garden Of Unearthly Delights, from 12 February 2016 for a strictly limited season. After winning the BankSA Pick Of The Fringe and The Advertiser Best Of The Fringe Awards in 2015, VELVET played sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe, Brisbane Festival and at the Sydney Opera House.

Melbourne Premiere of VELVET Set for The Coopers Malthouse

The award-winning hit show VELVET will have its Melbourne premiere at The Coopers Malthouse from 23rd March 2016, for a strictly limited season. After winning the bankSA Pick Of The Fringe and The Advertiser Best Of The Fringe Awards in Adelaide in 2015, VELVET then played sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Fringe, Brisbane Festival and at the Sydney Opera House.

Guests were entertained to the early morning by performances from Tori Scott (Time Out Top 10 Cabaret Performers), Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad and Australian recording artist Brendan Maclean (Universal Music Group, Baz Luhrman's GREAT GATSBY, and VELVET). SPARKLE & CIRCULATE with JUSTIN SAYRE - the official monthly podcast of the International Order of Sodomites - has posted its eleventh episode, which features an interview with Brendan Maclean, the acclaimed Australian singer and songwriter. Maclean - hailed as "infectious and hypnotic" by BuzzFeed - discusses his new EP Thought I'd Cry For You Forever, his role in Baz Luhrmann's film The Great Gatsby, his upcoming album with RuPaul's producer Lucian Piane and collaborating with Neil Gaiman on a new song. Also, Justin gives the back story behind his debut novel Husky, released this month from Penguin Books. Sky-Pony & The Deafening with Brendan Maclean to Play 42W, 5/21

On May 21, Brooklyn-based band Sky-Pony (led by Tony nominee Lauren Worsham) will hit the stage at club 42W, on a bill with The Deafening (led by Tony winner Lena Hall) and Australian pop star Brendan Maclean. Also appearing: special guests Grace McLean and Emmy winner Lance Horne. It's part of the Broadway the Hardway series, presented by Jacob Langfelder, which showcases rock groups with Broadway connections.
