Birdland Jazz Club has announced its schedule for June 22 - June 28, featuring Django Reinhardt Festival, Erich Bergen Live!, a Special Pride Celebration Including Tony Yazbeck, Molly Pop, and more!

Erich Bergen Live!

The Broadway at Birdland series is proud to present performer Erich Bergen, who will make his triumphant return to the Birdland stage on Sunday, June 21 at 6pm and Monday, June 22 at 7pm. Erich last played Birdland in December for two sold out performances. Erich Bergen, best known for his performance as Bob Gaudio in the Clint Eastwood film "Jersey Boys," and the current hit CBS drama "Madam Secretary," will bring his dry wit and smooth vocals to the Birdland stage, featuring songs from his stage and screen career, and songs from his two EP releases; his self-titled debut, and the recent "Never Give Up."

Jim Caruso's Cast Party

Jim Caruso's Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It's a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

June 23-27 (Tuesday-Saturday) at 7:00PMDjango Reinhardt Festival

After standing ovations and rave reviews at The Newport Jazz Festival, The Django Festival All-stars return from Paris for two major tours and a week at their home, Birdland. Headed by lead guitarist, Samson Schmitt, son of the legendary Dorado Schmitt. Joining them is Ludovic Beier on accordion and accordina, Pierre Blanchard on Violin, a prodigy of Grappelli who is a sensation, and DouDou Cuillerier, monster rhythm guitarist and scat singer. Brian Torff, who traveled the world on bass with Stephane Grappelli, holds it all together.

David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band

Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band breathes life and passion into America's own great art form. Now in its 14th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city's best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more!

Musette Explosion

Three of New York's most in-demand virtuoso musicians, each with a distinctive voice on his instrument, explore and expand on Parisian musette. They bring this multicultural dancehall music to new places through the highest improvisational communication, emotionally honest performances, and original compositions. Marcus, Matt and Will keep busy backing up some of the world's foremost artists (Regina Carter, Paul Simon, Henry Threadgill, Mark O'Connor, David Krakauer, Catherine Russell, David Byrne and others). Over the last fifteen years, they've indulged in a labor of love: exploring the beautiful and challenging French musette repertoire. They may be the only accordion/guitar/tuba trio to spend a week on Billboard's "Jazz Album" charts.

Broadway Singer-Actor Nicholas Rodriguez Makes His NYC Club Debut In
"The First Time..."

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present the NYC club debut of Nicholas Rodriguez in "The First Time," a CD release celebration. The one-night-only event will take place on Sunday, June 28 at 6pm. "The First Time..." is a concert and CD that embraces songs by theatre composers Stephen Sondheim, Frank Loesser and Rodgers & Hammerstein alongside pop hits from Joni Mitchell and Sara Bareilles. The show fuses the worlds of Broadway and pop with a performance of Phil Collins' "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan, the show in which Rodriguez made his Broadway debut. The concert will feature direction by T. Oliver Reid, music direction and arrangements by pianist David Budway, along with Neal Caine on bass, Donald Edwards on drums, and Ron Afif on guitar. A portion of the proceeds from "The First Time..." will benefit the Broadway Dreams Foundation, for which Rodriguez is the Artistic Director. On The Town Star Tony Yazbeck In
"The Floor Above Me"

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is thrilled to announce that Tony Yazbeck, the star of this season's On The Town revival will make his Birdland solo debut on Sunday, June 28 at 9:30pm. Yazbeck will heat up the Birdland stage in The Floor Above Me, a thrilling evening of tenor melodies and tenacious tap dancing, and will be joined by On The Town co-star Clyde Alves and tap dance sensation Melinda Sullivan ("So You Think You Can Dance," "Glee"). Musical direction and arrangements will be by Jerome Korman, and the evening is co-written and co-directed by Howard Emanuel & Tony Yazbeck. (Jerome Korman/piano, Thomas Hubbard/bass, Tony Lewis/drums, Mark McGowan/trumpet). Songs included in The Floor Above Me will be "Pure Imagination," "Cheek To Cheek," "Both Sides Now," and "Lucky To Be Me." Tony's Broadway credits also include Billy Flynn in Chicago, Phil Davis in White Christmas, Tulsa in Gypsy (w/Patti LuPone), and Al in the revival of A Chorus Line.

A Pride Celebration

The Broadway at Birdland concert series, in association with Jacob Langfelder, is excited to announce that "Love Me: Downtown and Downunder - A Pride Celebration" will take place on the historic music stage on Sunday, June 28 at 11pm. Stars Molly Pope, Tori Scott, Lance Horne, Brendan Maclean & Andrew Nielson will fly into Birdland from the distant lands of Australia, Austria and Astoria for a very special Pride Celebration.
