Mark White Octet Celebrates Album Release at The Black Box

Celebrate the release of the Mark White Octet's debut recording with a live performance at THE BLACK BOX, downtown Franklin's theater, music and event venue, at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 1. Featuring West Coast Swing with an East Coast vibe, the Octet includes Mark White (guitar), Scott deOgburn (piano), Jon Garniss (trombone), Kenny Hadley (drums), Rick Hammet (trumpet), Arnie Krakowsky (tenor sax), Mark Poniatowski (bass) and Ken Reid (bari sax), world-class musicians whose performance r sum s include a long list of music royalty. THE BLACK BOX CD release party will also feature special guests Ben Whiting, Jeff Stout and Barry Smith. A suburban hub for great music and the home of the Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC), THE BLACK BOX is located at 15 West Central Street.

Candice Glover, Josh Kaufman and Bianca Ryan Head HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS Tonight on Broadway

Home for the Holidays, Broadway's only Holiday show, stars Candice Glover, winner 'American Idol' Season 12; Josh Kaufman, winner of 'The Voice' Season 6; and Bianca Ryan, winner: 'America's Got Talent' Season 1. This strictly limited Broadway engagement opens tonight, November 21st, at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue) and continues through Saturday, December 30th only.

Michael McDonald Announces First UK Solo Shows In Eight Years

One of the world's most distinctive singing voices, Michael McDonald, five-time Grammy Award winner and formerly of The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and a member of supergroup the Dukes of September - is proud to announce his first UK solo shows in eight years with three dates in March 2018 - which takes in Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on March 15th.

Charles Bruffy Recognized With Signature Sinfonia Award

GRAMMY-award winning conductor Charles Bruffy achieved a career and personal milestone this past Saturday when he received the Signature Sinfonian award from the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America. Founded in 1898 at the New England Conservatory of Music, Phi Mu Alpha is an American collegiate fraternity for men with a special interest in music. The Signature Sinfonian award is conferred upon Sinfonian members who have achieved a high standard of accomplishment in their field or profession, thereby bringing honor to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Other notable artists who have received the elite Signature Sinfonian award include Luciano Pavarotti, Branford Marsalis, Duke Ellington, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Robert Shaw, as well as entrepreneurs George Eastman and Andrew Carnegie.

Penobscot Theatre to Ring in the New Year with Tribute to Three Divas

Penobscot Theatre Company will ring in the New Year with a special show celebrating the music of three rock-and-roll legends: I'm Your Diva Tonight: The Music of Whitney, Tina and Aretha will play for two performances only, 6:00 and 9:00 pm, at the Bangor Opera House.

November Concerts Announced at City Winery Chicago

November programming has been announced at City Winery Chicago. Highlights of the month include multi-night runs from Jazz vocalist (and Chicago transplant) Lizz Wright (Nov. 1-2), Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass with his wife, Grammy-winning singer Lani Hall, (Nov. 6-7), and four shows over two days with saxophonist Kurt Elling (Nov. 25-26) plus a benefit for Merit School of Music with Nico Segal (previously known as Donnie Trumpet from the Chance the Rapper-affiliated band, The Social Experiment) and The JuJu Exchange (Nov. 28) and much more.

Chopin Society Opens 20th Season with Renowned Folk Music Master Maria Pomianowska

The Vancouver Chopin Society (Chopin Society) proudly opens its milestone 20th anniversary season with Maria Pomianowska and her Folk Band in A Journey into Chopin's musical inspiration, October 14, 3pm & 7:30pm at the Vancouver Playhouse. This two-part performance begins with Pomianowska, the renowned Polish musician, composer, and vocalist, alongside a virtuosic ensemble. Together, these artists will conjure the traditional sounds of the Polish countryside once inspiration to composer Frederic Chopin, and accompany performances by Vancouver's own Polonez Dance Group. For the thrilling second half, 30 performers - including local acclaimed string and world music artists - will imagine Chopin's cross-cultural collaborations in 21st century Paris.

Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia Announces 2017-18 Season at the Kimmel Center

A founding resident company of The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP) announces its 2017-2018 Season. From September 2017 through May 2018, the Chamber Orchestra will perform six programs as part of its subscription series. All six concert pairs will be performed in the Kimmel Center's intimate Perelman Theater.
