The Puerto Rican Masters are a select group of the greatest stars of classic and contemporary salsa of the last forty years. The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of its Overture Awards Competition, held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and the winner of its new Arts Educator Award for Excellence in Arts Instruction. The competition awarded $4,000 to six area students for education and training, with 18 runners-up each winning $1,000, while the Arts Educator Award winner received $2,500 and two finalists were awarded $500 each.

Local inspirational author and financial aid administrator Bonita G. King of Stone Mountain has released her inspirational book, 'Who Stole My Gift?' on January 7, 2016 as part of A to Z Literary Creations publishing company. She is planning an intimate reading session in February to not only discuss her new book but also her foray into the literary industry.
King, a financial aid associate director at Georgia State University and First Lady at New Canaan Word of God Ministries has been working toward publication for seven years while working full time in the ever changing and demanding financial aid profession. In addition, she is the leader of the Women's Ministry at New Canaan where she can be found encouraging women to use the gift(s) that God presented them in order to be His light in the world.
By incorporating Biblical references throughout 'Who Stole My Gift?' will cause readers to self-introspect and help identify the gifts they may have allowed to remain dormant in their lifetime. This holiday season, The Classical Theatre of Harlem, in collaboration with the Apollo Theater, presents the world premiere of The First Noel. This Harlem- based holiday musical features music that crosses genres-from pop to jazz to gospel - to tell a universal story of love and belonging. Book, lyrics and music by Jason Michael Webb (Motown: The Musical, Violetand The Color Purple) and Lelund Durond Thompson (founder, YellaFella Entertainment and CTH Artistic Associate). Steve H. Broadnax III (Dominique Morisseau's Blood at the Root) serves as director and Brian Harlan Brooks (Motown: The Musical) as choreographer for this holiday presentation, which will take place in the Apollo's soundstage. The First Noel, commissioned by The Classical Theatre of Harlem and in association with Penn State Centre Stage, has been in development for three years and is intended to become a Harlem holiday classic.
